Dr 56 showcases how innocent patients become victims of unethical human clinical trials. The movie begins with a pet dog waiting in front of a house #56 at Jayanagar in Bengaluru on a rainy night. A masked man brings the body of a doctor in a cycle rickshaw and keeps it in front of the house. The state government handed the case over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI assigns Priya ( Priyamani) to investigate the case. Meanwhile, the masked man kills another doctor. The CBI officer catches Arjun ( Praveen Reddy) based on CCTV footage but he denies involvement in the two murders and claims that he is a victim of human clinical trial and needs to take a tablet every hour (56 minutes) to stay alive. Arjun then escapes from CBI’s radar. Priya meets a person ( Raj Deepak Shetty) who claims he is a doctor and knows the whereabouts of Arjun. She accompanies the doctor to Arjun’s hometown.
