Reliance Foundation Hospital in the city following the September 4 accident in neighbouring Palghar district. “Dr. Anahita Pandole has been operated on today for pelvic reconstruction by an expert team of doctors at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. MUMBAI: Kasa police on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against city gynaecologist Dr Anahita Pandole, driver of the The over 150-page chargesheet submitted in the Dahanu sessions court includes statements of around five witnesses saying Anahita (55) was behind the wheel when the accident took place at 2.34 pm in Ghol village of Dahanu taluka. Anahita, who needed multiple surgeries and rehabilitation before being discharged from hospital, has not been arrested. The chargesheet mentioned as Anahita is still recovering from her injuries, a notice under Criminal Procedure Code Section 41 (A) was issued to her at her Churchgate home on December 24, 2022. “As the driver is still bedridden, she has not responded to the notice. The chargesheet has been filed based on Darius’s statement,” said DYSP Sanjay Pimple, complainant in the case. The chargesheet stated Anahita had neither fastened her seat belt properly nor had she ensured her co-passengers were buckled up. The chargesheet alleged Anahita’s negligence while driving and her dangerous overtaking was responsible for the deaths of Mistry and Jahangir, in addition to causing injuries to her husband Darius and herself. An FIR was registered against Anahita on November 5 for various traffic violations, including causing deaths due to negligence, rash driving, overspeeding, overtaking, not following lane discipline and ignoring the duties of a driver.

MUMBAI: Even as gynaecologist Dr Anahita Pandole, who was driving the car when it met with an accident in which former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry and her brother-in-law Jehangir died on September 4, got discharged from a south Mumbai hospital on Thursday, Palghar police said she would not be arrested as all offences registered against her are bailable. Dr Anahita, who needed multiple surgeries and rehabilitation, spent 108 days in Sir H N Reliance Hospital in Girgaum. Kasa police had booked Dr Anahita for multiple offences, including rash and negligent driving that caused the deaths of Mistry and Jehangir in the accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway in Charoti in Dahanu. While her statement was not recorded, the FIR was based on her husband Darius's statement, in which he said his wife, who was driving in the third lane, was unable to merge into the two-lane bridge near Surya river in Charoti. Doctors said the pelvic reconstruction procedure was carried out to correct the anatomic defect caused by the accident, improve function, and avoid further complications. Sources added that 55-year-old Anahita had suffered fractures on both sides of the pelvis and one hip, which were addressed during Thursday’s procedure. The pelvis is a ring of bone at hip level, made up of several separate bones.
