EatingWell Magazine Submission Guidelines: $350 for Your Food Writing

EatingWell is accepting submissions of food writing, and would love to hear from new writers. They are national magazine with 850,000 subscribers. If you’re a food writer and want to get published, they could be a great opportunity for you. The pay is at a professional level, at $1 a word, and they make it clear that they are open to ideas from new writers. New writers are usually limited to 350 word articles. So, don’t expect to make more than $350 with your first publication. Their website gives you clear guidelines and helpful tips on how to send them a successful article pitch. Their focus is on healthy eating. According to their website: “We’d love to hear from you. We welcome ideas from new writers. If you haven’t worked with us before, it’s best to start off pitching front-of-book ideas, even if you’re an established writer. Consider it an audition for a longer piece.” They have many more details on their website. In fact, their guidelines page is one of the best I’ve seen. It is straightforward and very clear. Even if you’re not interested in submitting, I recommend reading their guidelines anyways.
