Education ministers under the Modi government's two terms have not been spared of their share of controversies. When it comes to their educational qualifications, it's hard to tell who wins the race — Smriti Irani and Ramesh Pokhriyal have both had their degrees called into question at different points of time whilst they inhabited the MHRD. Newly appointed Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with an MA degree in Anthropology, appears to be the most educated of the lot — without any dispute around his educational qualification. Pradhan, a native of Talcher in Odisha, holds a post-graduate degree in Anthropology from Utkal University in Bhubaneswar. He is an alumnus of the Talcher College, where he started his political journey as the President of the students' union. By India Today Education Desk: On June 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 70,000 appointment letters to the newly inducted recruits at the Rozgar Mela via video conferencing. While addressing the crowd, PM Modi said that, nowadays, new employment opportunities are growing in both public and private sectors. He further added that this is a crucial time for India, as those who will join government jobs today have the target of making India a developed country in the next 25 years. THE ENTIRE PROCESS GETS COMPLETED IN A FEW MONTHS While addressing the crowd, PM Modi said that earlier, the entire process of recruitment through government exams used to take around 1 to 1.5 years. However, now, the entire process is done in just a year. It takes a few months to complete the whole process. In the current Union government, this duty rests with Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', the Minister of Education. Up until last month, his department was called the Ministry for Human Resource Development. The name change was one of the recommendations of the New Education Policy or the NEP.
