Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde on Friday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in the State's Dombivil unit and said there are some leaders who are trying to create obstacles for BJP-Shinde faction for their "selfish politics". Speaking with ANI, Shrikant Shinde said, "Some leaders from Dombivli are trying to create obstacles for the alliance (BJP-Shinde faction) for their selfish politics. I have no desire for any post. I will back whichever candidate the senior leadership of the alliance decides". His remarks came days after CM Shinde on Monday said that the Shiv Sena and the BJP will jointly contest all upcoming elections including Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and local body elections in the State. Shiv Sena MP further said their (Shinde faction) aim is form the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance again and form a govt with the BJP at the Centre. "If someone opposes the work we are doing in this direction, if someone is angry and if there is any disturbance in the alliance, then I am ready to resign from my post," CM Shinde's son said. It will be the party's first foundation rally after Shinde split the Sena in June 2022 and went on to become Maharashtra Chief Minister. ADVERTISEMENT "We will hold the foundation day rally at Nesco Ground on June 19," party MP Gajanan Kirtikar said. This will also be the first foudation day rally where the party is being led by someone who does not belong to the family of late Bal Thackeray, the Sena founder. Thackeray, a cartoonist-turned-politician who championed the cause of sons of the soil, founded the party in 1966. After the police registered a case against Joshi, the local BJP unit passed a resolution against Shinde’s son and MP Shrikant that they would not cooperate with him for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The local Shiv Sena is of the opinion that the BJP did this deliberately to settle scores. In a jolt to Uddhav Thackeray ahead of the Eknath Shinde-led government’s floor test, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar has reinstated Shinde as Shiv Sena legislature party leader, removing Ajay Chaudhary. Narvekar also recognised the appointment of Bharat Gogawale from the Shinde camp as the chief whip of the Sena, removing Sunil Prabhu, who belongs to the Thackeray faction. The trust vote will be held in the Assembly on Monday, the last day of the special two-day session of the House. In a statement late Sunday night, Narvekar said the Maharashtra Legislature secretariat had received a letter from the Shinde-led group on June 22 objecting to his removal by Thackeray as the group leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party. After discussing the legalities of the matter, the Speaker has rejected the appointment of Sena MLA Ajay Chaudhary as the group leader of the legislative unit of the party, a letter by Narvekar said. The development comes as a major setback to the Thackeray faction comprising 16 MLAs who will be bound by the whip to be issued by Gogawale for the trust vote. If these 16 MLAs refuse to follow the whip, they face disqualification.
