The headline of these advertisement was ‘Modi for India and Shinde for Maharashtra’. The editorial said that till now, the Shinde-Fadnavis government has spent Rs 786 crore of public money on advertisements. “The good thing is now there is a clarity as the real face of the people who were claiming to be loyalists of Balasaheb has come out (as Balasaheb's photo was not there in the advertisement). The question is, those who couldn't stay loyal to Balasaheb, will they be loyal to Modi?” the editorial said. Commenting on the advertisement, the editorial said that the state’s deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis’ photo was not seen anywhere and Shiv Sena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray‘s photo was also missing in the advertisement. “It’s being said that the advertisement was not a government advertisement. That’s why Fadnavis’s photo is not in it. However, this is not true. These people keep saying that they are taking Balasaheb's thoughts forward, but his photo was also missing from the advertisement,” Saamna reported. The advertisement did not carry the pictures of either Fadnavis or Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray. Shinde, who split the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena last year and became chief minister, has always maintained that his Sena faction represents Bal Thackeray's vision and ideology. As much as 26.1 per cent of people in Maharashtra want Eknath Shinde as chief minister while 23.2 per cent wish to see Fadnavis as the next chief minister, the advertisement claimed. Thus, 49.3 per cent of people in Maharashtra supported the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, it said, citing a survey conducted by Zee TV-Matrize. In June last year, a political crisis unfolded in Maharashtra after a group of 40 of the 55 Sena MLAs rebelled and walked out of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance under the leadership of party leader Eknath Shinde, leading to a division in the party.
