Etcs Fuse

So, I filled my car up with Optimax, and as per in the knowledge page.... Advice to reset the reading of higher octane fuel for the ECU to read and record under driving characteristics, and aid throttle response etc............... I took out my 20amp ECU fuse, I went to take out my 15amp ETCS fuse and it wasnt even plugged in. (I had been noticing that my "ECT PWR" button when presed and displayed on the dashboard, there was no noticable acceleration difference from standard). I put this fact that there was not ETCS (electronic Throttle control) in operation due to the lack of fuse not plugged in..... So, I waited 30 seconds, i plugged back in the ECU fuse, and this time, took a spare 15amp fuse and plugged it in where the ETCS 15amp fuse should be.... When using ECT PWR button now, I have a bigger kick on acceleration (Ithink-it's marginal)Prob due to the electronic throttle now being controoled by the fuse now plugged in.................(Is this how it works, I dont know) BUT------When driving, I can smell a slight whiff of burnt exhaust gases through my air intake in the cabin after plugging in the fuse...to confirm this I have removed the fuse, and now the exhauset gas smell has dissapeared. I have auto transmission and a six cyl engine. Question1. Can any one eplain how ETCS works, and what the fuse regualtes, and what I was missing out on with the fuse not plugged in. ETCS Levels and Modes

The levels and operation modes are fundamental concepts of the ETCS system (European Train Control System). A short definition can be given as follows: ETCS Levels Level 1 involves continuous supervision of train movement (i.e. the onboard computer is continuously supervising the maximum permitted speed and calculating the braking curve to the end of movement authority) while non-continuous communication occurs between train and trackside, generally through Eurobalises. Lineside signals are necessary. Train detection and train integrity checks (i.e. the train is complete and has not been accidentally split) are performed by the trackside equipment beyond the scope of ERTMS. Level 2 involves continuous supervision of train movement with constant communication via GSM-R between the train and trackside. Lineside signals are optional in this case, and train detection and train integrity checks are performed by the trackside equipment beyond the scope of ERTMS. Level 3 involves continuous train supervision with continuous communication between the train and trackside. ERTMS

When talking about ERTMS, we mainly talk about two systems: • The ETCS (European Train Control System), a train control standard, based on in-cab equipment able to supervise train movements and to stop it according to the permitted speed at each line section, along with calculation and supervision of the maximum train speed at all times. Information is received from the ETCS equipment beside the track (balises or radio) depending on the operation level. The driver’s response is continuously monitored, and if necessary the emergency brakes would be taken under control. The objective of this comprehensive ATP (Automatic Train Protection System) is to constantly monitor the train speed, and compare it to the maximum values that are sent by trackside signalling. This communication that is needed between onboard and trackside will be provided by means of balises (that is what operation Level 1 will be called) or by GSM-R radio connection (operation Level 2). • GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications - Railways) is the second ERTMS system, the European radio communications standard for railway operations.
