Tata Motors to supply 5,000 Xpres

Electric passenger vehicle market leader Tata Motors has signed an MoU with Everest Fleet for the delivery of 5,000 Xpres-T EVs. The company handed over the first batch of 100 cars today. Everest Fleet, which is one of the leading operators in the shared mobility market in India, currently supplies over 6,000 cars to taxi aggregating platforms across seven metro cities. The market leader in India’s growing EV industry, Tata Motors, has signed an MoU with Everest Fleet Private Limited for the delivery of 5000 XPRES-T EVs. Tata is moving to accelerated the transition to sustainable transportation in India by manufacturing affordable electric vehicles. Tata has already handed over the first 100 cars to Everest Fleet Private Limited as part of the celebrations of the landmark deal. Over the past 10 years or so, a lot of new energy vehicle startups, and also legacy OEMs, have followed the same formula of starting with top of the range ($70,000+) electric vehicles and then move slowly to develop lower priced versions. Everest Fleet, a leading fleet supplier, has successfully closed a US $20 million (Rs 164 crore) funding round led by Uber, the ridesharing company. Everest fleet operates in the shared mobility space in India and is an existing partner to leading ridesharing companies like Uber and Ola. The funding will enable Everest Fleet to expand its operations and grow the overall supply pool available for the ridesharing industry where demand continues to outstrip vehicle supply. Everest Fleet has raised $20 million in a round led by the ridesharing company Uber. Everest provides CNG and Electric cars for ridesharing platforms such as Uber and Ola. The funding will support the expansion of its operations and increase the supply of vehicles for the ridesharing industry in India. The company, headquartered in Mumbai, was established in 2016 . The co-founder of Everest Fleet, Siddharth Ladsariya, stated that the funding will accelerate the company’s transition from a fleet dominated by CNG (compressed natural gas) vehicles to one that includes both CNG and electric vehicles. Their goal is to have 10,000 electric vehicles in their fleet by 2026. Ladsariya emphasized that with the scaling up of operations, they aim to provide a good driver partner proposition while ensuring a better experience for customers. Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, highlighted the importance of providing drivers with easy access to vehicles and mentioned that this investment will create earning opportunities for thousands of drivers across India.
