‘India continuously violating international laws in IIOJK’

PHOTO: File ISLAMABAD: Political experts and analysts in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have said that India is continuously flouting all international laws and conventions in the territory with impunity. The political experts and analysts in their interviews and statements in Srinagar said the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of their basic human rights by India. They said New Delhi is using black laws like Public Safety Act (PSA) and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) to arrest and detain innocent people in the territory, Kashmir media service reported. The political experts and analysts pointed out that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government revoked Kashmir’s special status in flagrant breach of international law and UN resolutions. They said New Delhi is now settling the Indian citizens in IIOJK by granting them domicile status to change the demographic composition of the UN-recognised dispute territory. The political experts and analysts deplored that the Modi regime is grabbing the Kashmiris’ land and properties in violation of international norms. India is forcibly denying the Kashmiris their universally recognised right to self-determination, they said. The political experts and analysts maintained that India’s intransigence is the main hurdle in the way of implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir and New Delhi must be punished for disregarding the global laws and agreements in IIOJK. They added that the wo...

'Pak should recalibrate its India policy or it may be reduced...': Pakistan media

Islamabad: Startled over India's growing stature on the global platform, the Pakistani daily, The Express Tribune, for the first time ever praised India which is relevant to the world, not only in its size and girth but by its footprint across the world. Shahzad Chaudhry, a political, security and defence analyst, writing an opinion piece in The Express Tribune said, "If I were Henry Kissinger, I would write a treatise `On India`. Such has been the monumental change in India`s fortunes as a State and a player principally in Asia and broadly on the global stage." When India took over the UK to become 5th largest economy in 2022 Notably, India last year took over the UK to become the fifth largest economy in the world and is aiming to be the third largest economy in the world by 2037, while Pakistan`s economy is running on financial assistance from the global community. The international community`s generous response by pledging more than USD 8 billion comes as a great relief for cash-strapped Pakistan which is fighting to rebuild in a climate-resilient manner after the devastating floods that killed 1,739 people and affected 33 million people last year. Pakistani security and defence analyst praises Indian economy Moreover, Chaudhry praised India for holding foreign exchange reserves of over USD 600 billion, fourth in the world, while Pakistan currently holds only USD 4.5 billion only. Pakistan is in the midst of the most serious crisis it has faced since 1971. The politica...

Pakistan media praises PM Narendra Modi, urges Shehbaz Sharif to learn from India

Biparjoy to hit Gujarat coast near 3 pm today © Provided by Firstpost Pakistan media praises PM Narendra Modi, urges Shehbaz Sharif to learn from India Islamabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come in for rich praise from a leading English daily in Pakistan. This is somewhat rare for the media in Pakistan as it generally portrays PM Modi as a communal, divisive figure. In an editorial in ‘The Express Tribune’ Pakistani defence analyst Shahzad Chaudhary pointed out that even as Pakistan slides deeper into an economic crisis while PM Shehbaz Sharif begs the world for financial crumbs, neighbouring country India is progressing day by day. Shahzad Chaudhary warned that now PM Shehbaz Sharif will have to think seriously about how to improve Pakistan’s economy. Chaudhary has written in an article in the Express Tribune that now times have changed a lot. India has become the country in the world with which America and Russia, who do not see eye to eye with each other, are standing. He says that the time has come when the country’s policies have to be changed. If this happens then Pakistan can also benefit from India’s progress. India getting stronger day by day Shahzad has also mentioned India’s progress and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his article. Chaudhary wrote in his article that no one talks about PM Modi in Pakistan. He is no less than an anonymous personality in this country. But the reality is that no one has been able to do the work that Modi has...

Global tourists want to visit India, Delhi

PTI Dehradun, May 25 The world appreciates the way India has strengthened its economy over the past few years despite various challenges, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday while flagging off the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express via video-conference. The prime minister also inaugurated 100 per cent electrification of railway tracks in the state. Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities for passengers, the first such train for Uttarakhand reduces the journey time between Dehradun and the national capital to four-and-a-half hours from the six hours and 10 minutes it takes on the Shatabdi Express. "Global tourists want to visit India to see the country and understand it. This is a great opportunity for Uttarakhand," the prime minister said at the launch. Addressing the flag-off ceremony, Modi said he just returned from a tri-nation tour and can say that the whole world looks towards India with great hope. "The world appreciates the way India has strengthened its economy over the past few years despite various challenges," he added. The prime minister also mentioned various road and rail projects undertaken in Uttarakhand by the BJP's "double-engine government" to boost connectivity.

P Chidambaram writes: Will Hindi and Hindu own India?

Premium P Chidambaram writes: Will Hindi and Hindu own India? While the Prime Minister was celebrating the Hindu faith in Ujjain, the Home Minister was quietly pushing the Hindi language... If I were an Assamese or Malayali, I would feel that I am a half-citizen. If I were also a Muslim or Christian, I would feel that I am a non-citizen On October 11, 2022 Mr A Virtuoso Performance Mr Modi is a devout Hindu. Most Indians are devout Hindus. Most others who are not Hindus are equally devout to another faith. When he went to the Mahakaleshwar temple, Mr Modi offered prayers and performed the rituals, and every minute of that was dutifully telecast live by all the channels that I surfed. At the sanctorum, he was draped in a golden angavastram and a saffron scarf. He had sandalwood paste on his forehead and a big tilak. When he addressed the gathering (I suppose nearly all Hindus), it was obvious that he had prepared well. He recalled the ancient cities and their great temples located all over the country. He quoted from Sanskrit scriptures. He spoke at length on the significance of Shiv bhakti. It was not clear if he had memorized his lines or he had a tele-promoter before him (hidden from the TV camera). Whichever it be, it was a virtuoso performance. Read in Explained | It was not a routine inaugural speech. It was what is called a pravachan, a spiritual discourse by a Hindu preacher to an all-Hindu audience that loved every word. Mr Modi said that India was on a spiritual j...

'Modi has done something...': In a first, Pakistan media praises India's growing global footprint

A leading Pakistan daily lauded India's expanding global footprint and its growing stature and heft on the world stage under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Op-ed column in the leading Pakistan daily further stated that under PM Modi, India's foreign policy has treaded skilfully and its GDP has grown to over three trillion USD. India is also a big producer of agricultural products and the IT industry, Chaudhry noted in his column, adding that "in agriculture, their yields per acre are comparable to the best in the world and despite being a country of over 1.4 billion people, it remains a relatively steady, coherent and functional polity". Praising New Delhi's purchase of Russian oil in line with its national interests even in the face of pressure from the West, amid the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, Khan said, "India and the US are QUAD allies but it has still decided to purchase oil from Russia in the interest of its citizens". "The decisions of this nation must be made inside the nation. If Russia is giving cheap oil and if I have the choice to save my countrymen, no one should ask us. No one should be able to tell us. India can take oil from Russia but the slave Pakistanis are not allowed. I want to see a free country. Justice must prevail and people should be provided safety and security," Khan said. Since his ouster from power in April, Khan has been alleging a US-led foreign conspiracy against him. While criticising the Joe Biden administr...
