It’s no secret that slowly—strong liquor. And it’s also no secret that a major demographic of this crowd of drinkers are Fireball Whisky has picked up on this trend, announcing today that their all-new, first-ever bourbon barrel-aged “Dragon Reserve” whisky will be available just in time for Father’s Day. Even better, the brand announced their first “Master Distiller,” comedian and father Rob Riggle, who had a hand in choosing the recipe for what he describes as an “absolute fire” bottle of whisky. “Attention Children 21+: what dad wants for Father’s Day is some peace and quiet so he can enjoy his new favorite whisky, Fireball Dragon Reserve,” Rob Riggle says in a press release. “All jokes aside, Fireball has a huge legion of fans who we know are going to love toasting pops on Father’s Day after he’s cut the grass, cleaned his car, or napped through hours of golf on TV (you know, dad stuff).” Fireball Whisky According to the brand, the limited-edition release will taste similar to the original Fireball, but with a “smoky, oaky undertone.” Dragon Reserve has been aged in what Fireball calls “dragon-charred barrels.” (In layman’s terms, these are American oak premium whiskey barrels.) The Untold Truth Of Fireball

For many years, the cinnamon liqueur was primarily sold north of the border. In 1989, the American-based Sazerac Company purchased the rights to the entire Doctor McGillicudy line of spirits and attempted to increase sales in the United States. As part of an advertising stunt, Sazerac paid a town in North Dakota agreed to temporarily change its name to McGillicudy City in exchange for $100,000, according to the Associated Press. While the promotion may have helped put the rural community on the map, there's no proof it helped sell any more schnapps. In fact, it would take another decade before the brand's cinnamon whisky became a household name. If it feels to you like Fireball whisky came out of nowhere, you're right. Although the alcoholic beverage we know as Fireball has been around for decades, its name and branding are much more recent creations. After the Sazerac Company purchased the rights to what was then known as Doctor McGillicudy's Fireball Whisky in 1989, it didn't alter much of anything about the liqueur. That all changed in 2007 when the company rebranded the drink as Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, gave it a new logo, and unleashed a cross-country, grassroots marketing campaign. While marketed as whiskey, both are technically liqueurs given that they contain added sugar and a lower ABV than traditional whiskey. The main product is Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, which is made with actual Canadian whiskey as its spirit base, with additional flavors and sweeteners added. Then there's the similar-looking Fireball Cinnamon, which contains no whiskey at all and contains half the alcohol of its sibling, allowing it to skirt laws in stores that aren't allowed to sell spirits. Fireball Whisky The new Dragon Reserve is Fireball Cinnamon Whisky that's been aged in "dragon-charred" barrels — AKA American oak barrels that formerly contained bourbon, actually being pitched as a premium product.
