Behind most of the faces lie untold stories of pain and suffering. More than 4,000 women and 1500 children live in 77 brothels, most of whom are there by force, sold as young children, or trafficked. But these sex workers have found a friend in Gitanjali Babbar, who has made it her mission to empower them through love. ​ Gitanjali through Kat-Katha, a nonprofit that's quietly been transforming G.B. Road brothels into classrooms, and safe spaces for the women and their children to learn, explore creative arts, and come alive with a sense of connection, expression, and possibility. A graduate in journalism and a post-graduate in development communications, Gitanjali Babbar's life journey began in a brothel in GB Road when she started Kat-Katha and is still continuing. “The stories which we hear about a brothel is absolutely different from what is being offered- there is so much of love, there is so much of warmth.” In this podcast, social worker Gitanjali Babbar talks about the conception of her organization Kat-Katha, her own curiosity and thirst for knowledge, the challenges of working with sex workers. Hear her addressing the taboos around sex and brothels in our society as she urges people to be open-minded about these women and the need for safe spaces for sex workers and their families.

Completed a course on "Successful Negotiation: Essential Strategies and Skills", an online course of study offered by University of Michigan. I found it very informative and the methods learnt here can be effectively used for negotiations. Following are my key takeaways: 1. Get to know the other party by asking relevant questions and listening to the answers carefully 2. To understand your bargaining power, get to know your as well as other party's BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement) 3. Focus on strengthening your BATNA and also try to weaken the other party's BATNA 4. Try to find the ZOPA (Zone of Potential Agreement) to assess the possibility of an agreement 5. Among position-based and interest-based negotiations, always search for underlying interests of other party but also be ready for positional bargaining
