HYDERABAD: With an eye on garnering revenues in the form of property tax collection, especially between November-March, GHMC wants exemption for its officials to discharge poll duties as returning officers of assembly constituencies in Greater Hyderabad. GHMC commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, who is also district election officer (DEO) of Hyderabad, wrote a letter to the Election Commission replacing GHMC zonal commissioners, additional commissioners and deputy commissioners, with special grade deputy collectors of revenue department as returning officers in 15 segments in Hyderabad. The list was sent to Telangana chief electoral officer Vikas Raj recently. Official sources said the GHMC commissioner does not want returning officer duties for his officers as last four to five months of financial year are crucial for the municipal corporation for property tax collection apart from executing works like sanitation and minotoring of projects in the election year. The election notification for assembly polls is expected to be issued in November. Preparations have already begun. The official machinery will be involved three months prior to the poll notification. Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore on Saturday said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation would strengthen its Legal Wing for effective implementation of court orders, monitoring the status of various cases and timely filing of counters in contempt cases. Commissioner Dana Kishore, along with the A.C. Legal Adwait Kumar Singh, Zonal Commissioner Musaraff Ali and Chief Planner had a review meeting with the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, City Planners, Asst City Planners and Section officers of all circles and Standing Counsel of GHMC. He reviewed cases pertaining to contempt cases of Town Planning, Land Acquisition, Engineering and Establishment and their status. Analyze the nature of the case and prioritize and take action accordingly. Commissioner, instructed to act promptly on illegal constructions, encroachment of lakes and nalas. Further, the Commissioner instructed the officials to review once in a week every Saturday and bring notice of the Commissioner and Additional Commissioner (Legal) shall review legal cases every week at Zonal Level on rotation basis and in turn the Commissioner will review once in a month of all cases at Head Office. The government has, on Monday, issued orders transferring GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore, and appointing Rangareddy District Collector Lokesh Kumar D.S. in his place. Mr. Dana Kishore, who has continued to remain in the post of Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, has been relieved of the responsibilities as GHMC Commissioner, which he had assumed precisely a year ago. S.Harish, a 2015 batch IAS officer, who is presently Joint Collector of Rangareddy district, has been given the full additional charge as Collector. The sudden transfer of Mr. Dana Kishore after such a short tenure, came as surprise to many, as there are no major allegations against him. Though several corporators expressed displeasure against zonal-level officials during the recent general body meeting, Mr. Dana Kishore was not their direct target. Incidentally, Mr.Dana Kishore was not in the city when the orders were issued. Hyderabad: In a surprise move, Telangana State Government on Monday transferred GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) Commissioner Dana Kishore and appointed Rangareddy district Collector DS Lokesh Kumar as the Corporation Commissioner with immediate effect. Kishore has been appointed as GHMC Commissioner in August 2018. During his one year stint, the 1996 batch IAS official succeeded in completing the pending flyovers and other infrastructure development projects in Greater Hyderabad limits. It is learnt that the official's failure in repairing the damaged roads due to heavy rains could be one of the reasons for his transfer. Kishore has been posted as Managing Director to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board. Rangareddy district Joint Collector S Sarish has been placed in Full Additional Charge ( FAC) of the post of Collector which fell vacant after the incumbent Lokesh posted as GHMC commissioner. –eom
