Harshit Rana made an instant impact in the IPL on his debut on Thursday, April 28. The Kolkata Knight Riders' paceman got the big wicket of Mitchell Marsh with just his third ball in the competition and this surely has helped him grab the spotlight alongside other young Indian talents in the competition this season. Said to have express pace which can trouble the batters, Rana showed in his first game that he isn't someone to be toyed with. Hailing from Gherva in Delhi, he was reportedly referred to KKR by Nitish Rana, someone with who he shares his surname. Harshit Rana was born on 22 nd December 2001 in Ghera, Delhi. He has not made his senior domestic cricket debut yet; however, he has been recruited by the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL. He is currently serving as the fastest bowler in the KKR squad. He grew up idolizing Shoaib Akhtar, Pakistan’s fast bowler, and strongly believes in the maxim of bowling as fast as he can. In his early days, he trained as early as 4.30 A.M in the morning, attended school till 2.P.M and would get back to train with his father till 9.30 P.M. He suffered a recurring lower back injury. Owing to this, he even failed to make the cut for Delhi’s under -14 and under-16 squad, just a year after he started playing in the year 2012. His father was naturally disheartened and his single- mindedly asked Harshit to focus on an International debut for India. Harshit, without ever losing hope of playing again, decided to attend rehab in Gurgaon. In order to recover from his injury, he would commute 42 kilometers every day. It was Rana’s first coach, Shervant Sir, who had taken him under his wings at his cricket academy in Kirtinagar in the year 2012. Delhi’s Harshit Rana, who replaced an injured Rasikh Salam was included in the playing XI in place of Shivam Mavi. The Knight Riders’ suffered a setback when their fast bowler Rasikh Salam got injured. Salam was bowling at a good pace and the Kolkata team was intent on giving him more matches but his injury would obviously have dealt a blow to Kolkata Knight Riders. Now in his place, young fast bowler Harshit Rana has been included in the team. Harshit Rana was brought by KKR for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Apart from being a fast bowler, he also has the ability to bat. The right-arm medium pacer is a pretty unknown commodity and is yet to make his domestic cricket debut at the senior level. Due to this, there have been pacers emerging from every nook and corner, and one of them is Harshit Rana. Hailing from New Delhi, Harshit Rana is a right-arm fast bowler from India. He began his cricketing career by playing age-group cricket for Delhi. Before even making his debut at the senior level for Delhi, KKR selected him as a replacement for the injured Rasikh Salam during the 2022 IPL season. Rana made his debut for the franchise and finished with figures of 1 for 24 in his first appearance, against Delhi Capitals.
