The FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, featured 16 top teams from across the globe. The 16 teams in the 2023 Hockey World Cup, were divided into four groups - Pool A to D - of four teams each. The teams in each group played in a single-headed round-robin format in the group stage of the competition. Another world championship, another gold for Canada. The Canadians defeat Germany 5-3 in the 2023 IIHF World Championship on Sunday to claim gold at the tournament. With the game tied 2-2, Canada netted three goals in the third frame to pull away and secure the victory. "It’s the team that wins, said assistant captain Milan Lucic, playing in his first World Championship. "We had a really good team that came together, and that’s why we’re champions. "I always believed in this group. I think that was a big part of us winning the gold medal. Anytime Canada is in a tournament, we expect to win gold, Canadians expect us to win gold, so it’s nice to bring another championship home. The people of Canada really love and appreciate it." The FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 is set to begin with Rio 2016 Olympic champions Argentina taking on South Africa at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on January 13. Later in the day, the action will move to the newly-built Indian men’s hockey team faces Spain in a Pool D fixture. The hockey World Cup, in its 15th edition, will see 16 countries, divided into four pools (A-D), competing for the title. During the group stage, each team will play three FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 groups Pool A: Australia, South Africa, France, Argentina Pool B: Belgium, Japan, Korea, Germany Pool C: Netherlands, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand Pool D: India, Wales, Spain, England The four pool winners will advance to the quarter-finals while the teams finishing second and third in their pools will have to play crossover matches for the remaining four quarter-final spots.
