Mangaluru: It is turning out to be a fun activity for most kids and all this has been possible because of Bengaluru-based With skateboarding all set to make its Poorna from Holystoked said, “We started off as a group of skateboarders who wanted to promote skateboarding and we quickly realised that we are probably the only resource in the country to build skate parks, to get quality skate products, do workshops and conduct lessons for corporates and schools.” Commercial skate park projects are undertaken by 100 Ramps, co-founded by Abhishek- also known as Shek, a core member of Holystoked. The core members of Holystoked include Poorna, Abhishek, Abhishek (Shek), Somanna, Amit and Subba. “Holystoked builds free to use skate parks and there are about 20-25 such facilities in India, of these some could be a simple backyard mini ramp or can go up to 20,000 sq feet. Most of the skate parks built in DIY and Holystoked gets volunteers to work or crowd fund the project,” said Poorna, who was introduced to skateboarding when he was travelling abroad and had picked a skateboard. Back home he just got super into it. Abhishek said they would love to have free parks everywhere for anyone to come and skate. “A skate facility always results in a happier friendly and more vibrant society and community,” believes Abhishek or Shek and Somanna looks after the curriculum and the fun way to learn skateboarding.
