"RuPay Debit and Credit cards issued by banks in India have gained international acceptance through bilateral arrangements with international partners and co-badging arrangements with international card schemes. In order to expand payment options for Indians travelling abroad, it has been decided to allow issuance of Through bilateral agreements with foreign partners and co-badging agreements with international card schemes, Indian banks' RuPay Debit and Credit cards have achieved acceptability on a global scale. The RBI's Payments Vision Document 2025 has already outlined expanding the global outreach of UPI and RuPay cards as one of the key objectives under the internationalisation pillar, according to the RBI’s latest annual report. For the global outreach of RuPay cards, arrangements have been made with Bhutan, Singapore, Nepal, and the UAE to accept RuPay cards without co-branding with other international card schemes. Issuance of RuPay cards in other countries is also being examined. Going forward, the Reserve Bank, along with the NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) will continue to effect partnerships for cross-border payments and enhance the global outreach of UPI and RuPay cards. ICICI Coral Rupay Credit Card

Both the cards will be active. For me in my case. I have one ICICI upgraded to Emeralde and the same card I have changed to Rupay also. So I have 3 active cards now with limit shared. For upgraded on the card will be different and transcations also will be different, whereas in converted both remains same (And I'm not sure whether they will treated it as Dual Card - someone needs to confirm)

In a statement on Monday (29 August 2022), the bank said ICICI Bank RuPay Credit Card is available in the Coral variant of the Bank’s Gemstone series, which will be followed by Rubyx and Sapphiro variants soon. According to the statement, ICICI Bank Coral RuPay Credit Card is a contactless card offering a host of privileges and benefits including reward points on daily purchases like shopping and restaurants, paying utility bills, complimentary domestic airport & railway lounge access, waiver of fuel surcharge, discounts on movie tickets & dining, among others. SBI Card, ICICI Bank defer RuPay credit card on UPI till June: Report

Currently, three public sector banks (PSBs) — Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, and Punjab National Bank — are live on this feature. HDFC Bank, the country’s largest credit card issuer, is also live on this feature. Further, BHIM, Mobikwik, and Paytm app customers can link their RuPay credit card on UPI. Other apps are also enhancing their tech platforms to enable linking of credit cards on UPI. In June last year, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to allow linking of credit cards to UPI, which so far was being used as a “pay now” facility. This, it said, will provide more convenience to users and enhance the scope of digital payments. According to National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), RuPay credit cards on UPI will provide a seamless and digitally enabled credit card experience for customers. They will benefit from the ease and the increased opportunity to use their credit cards. And, merchants will benefit from the increase in consumption with acceptance of credit cards using asset lite QR codes. Consequently, the NPCI came out with guidelines that said there will be no extra charges levied on small merchants for transactions of up to ₹2,000 processed via RuPay credit cards on UPI. The circular by NPCI also said small merchants will be exempted from interchange, app provider, and other tariffs.
