Ultrasound & IFT

Ultrasound & IFT At some point in our lives, we face body or muscle pain. At that time, we wait for the pain to subside on its own or visit a physiotherapist. But if the pain becomes chronic and continues for a long time, it needs the application of some advanced medical procedures. 𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐋 offers premium Ultrasound & IFT Physiotherapy treatment led by renowned Spine Sports and Joint Replacement & Orthopaedic Consultant Dr R. SARAVANAN. Ultrasound Physiotherapy Ultrasound therapy is a type of electrotherapy and is predominantly used for its non-thermal effect where high-frequency sound waves are used to cause vibrations and movement of cellular fluids. Ultrasound devices use ultrasound/ultrasonic measures to perform physiotherapies. There are sound waves of different frequencies applied to the machine and they behave differently for each user. These frequencies vary between the ranges of 800,000-2,000,000 Hz. These sound waves penetrate the skin up to 4 cm deep inside muscles and body tissues. When the treatment is applied, the affected area comes under deep heating that helps in reducing pain and brings back the sensation to the muscles that have lost mobility. Benefits of Ultrasound Physiotherapy • It improves the healing rate of certain soft tissues. • Increase blood flow to an area to accelerate the resolution time of the inflammatory process. • Stimulate the production of collagen (protein in tendons and ligaments) for tissue healing IFT -Interferential Ther...

Interferential Therapy (IFT): Pain Management and Relief

An Overview of Inter Ferential Therapy (IFT) IFT is a technique that uses two electrical currents of varying frequencies passing through the treated area. When two currents in close proximity are found, a third frequency is created, known as an interferential current. This current interacts with nerve cells and tissue to reduce swelling, relieve spasms and muscles, and promote healing. Inter Ferential Therapy can be used on virtually any part of the body, usually by simply placing the electrodes on the topical area and then changing the intensity and pattern of the current. The results of IFT can be immediate and last for days or weeks. What is Interferential Therapy (IFT)? Interferential Therapy (IFT) is a non-invasive physical therapy for pain relief and tissue repair. It uses low-frequency electrical currents that generate a frequency intending to prevent pain signals from being transmitted to the brain. This frequency is called an interferential current or IFC. IFT is part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program, where it can help decrease inflammation, muscle spasms, and pain while promoting tissue healing. Types of IFT Treatment There are two types of IFT machines. One's only for professional use—the other's light, portable, and usable even with little to no training. Professional machines for IFT treatment offer more control and are more efficient. That's because the effects of this therapy depend on the machine's operation. • The frequency of the beats needs to b...

Table of Contents • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • INTRODUCTION : • It is a type of electo therapy treatment that uses electric currents to stimulate tissue which provides pain relief, reduction of swelling and many other health benefits. • The principle of interferential therapy is to cause two medium frequency currents of slightly different frequencies to interfere with one another. • It is basically used for the treatment of Chronic, Post Traumatic, and Post-surgical pains. • IFT uses a range of frequencies that stimulate the body to get positive reactions such as increasing the blood supply in an area which in turn increases the healing speed. • The major advantage of IFT is that it produces effects in the tissue, exactly where required without unnecessary and uncomfortable skin stimulation. • This technique is widely used to elicit muscle contraction, promote healing and reduce edema. • IFT is the form of the electrical treatment in which two medium frequency currents are used to produce a low – frequency effect . History Interferential therapy : • It is developed by Dr. Hans Nemes of Vienna • Austria • In 1950’s Skin impedance Interferential therapy : • Main problem of direct application of faradic or sinusoidal currents to patient is the very high skin impedance. • Medium frequency current of around 4000Hz , while able to stimulate motor and sensory nerves, encounter a much Lower skin impedance . • Impedance is invers...
