Financial Aid Website: Illinois Institute of Technology's Office of Financial Aid provides institutional and federal financial assistance for students and families. Mission Statement The financial aid team strives to educate, empower, and support students with an understanding of financial aid options and resources in approachable environment. Comprehensive Financial Aid Program Illinois Institute of Technology administers a comprehensive financial aid program which includes federal, institutional, and private funds for both full- and part-time students. Federal programs include loans and work-study employment. The university uses the formula established by the U.S. Congress to determine financial need for assistance. The university offers limited academic scholarship assistance to graduate students. These scholarships are awarded by individual university departments and by the Office of Graduate Admission. Private loans are also available and are based on credit approval from the lender. That would permit the student to pay off the entire cost of higher education within two years, if not earlier The Union ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) has just announced that the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will increase their annual tuition fees from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2 lakh. “A decision to hike the fee over two-fold has been taken by the HRD Ministry following a proposal by an IIT panel,” a senior official of the Human Resource Development Ministry said. However, there will be a total fee waiver for the differently abled and students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and weaker sections (approximately 20 percent of the student strength). This increase comes on the heels of an increase announced in 2013, under the previous government, from Rs 50,000 to Rs 90,000. In 2008, the fee was increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. In fact, the IIT panel’s recommendation (which met last month under the chairmanship of Shok Mitra of IIT-Rourkee) was to increase the fees three-fold to Rs 3 lakh.
