IPL 2023: Lucknow Super Giants coaches should be blamed for team's loss vs RCB, says Imran Tahir

By India Today Sports Desk: Lucknow Super Giants failed to chase down 127 runs at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, 1 May while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the absence of KL Rahul, who did not open the innings due to injury, Lucknow imploded on a slow and sticky Ekana track. Former South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, while speaking on Star Sports said that the LSG coaches should also share the blame alongside their players for messing up the chase. LSG batters got out trying to play their shots in the second innings, fully knowing that it was difficult to play through the line on the Lucknow deck. Tahir analysed the game and felt that the directive to play their shots must have come from the LSG management, something that he considered a grave mistake. "Everyone knew that KL Rahul was injured and that he wouldn't bat. So their batters should have taken the responsibility and the coaches should have communicated with them and made a proper plan," Tahir said on Star Sports. "This is their home ground. What amazed me is that everyone went in and tried to play shots. I don't think those shots were required. You had seen Faf du Plessis, who concentrated primarily on singles and he is not like that. Normally he is an aggressive player, he is a player who goes and plays his shots," he further added. The former spinner lauded the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, who were pumped up for this game. RCB had lost their first encounter vs LSG in a final ball thriller at th...

(Pic: Twitter/ RCB) New Delhi: The first half of IPL 2023 has witnessed some high-adrenaline contests between all ten teams. The contest between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders kicks off the reverse fixtures on Wednesday. Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh reckons the biggest strength of RCB has been the good form of their regular and acting skipper i.e. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, and runs coming out of their bats will keep the dressing room relaxed. Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Harbhajan Singh said, “Virat Kohli will have to take the responsibility to keep RCB up. His partnership with Faf will be crucial. Virat and Faf are in good form and this will always give relief to RCB.”

IPL 2023: MS Dhoni nurturing fresh talent in CSK, preparing team for future, says Imran Tahir

“CSK is going through a transition phase. MS Dhoni is preparing CSK for the future, he's nurturing young talents like Shivam Dube, Akash Singh, Tushar Deshpande, etc. for Indian cricket," Tahir said on Star Sports ahead of the game. "The best thing about Dhoni is that he's very approachable in the dressing room and at the hotel, and that is the reason why players flourish at CSK,” the former South Africa spinner further added. Chennai Super Kings won their previous fixture against Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, courtesy of Moeen Ali. Tahir spoke about the conditions of the reverse fixture at Ekana and said that LSG have to take advantage of the conditions to do well in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. “The Lucknow team is different at home and away from home. It becomes very strong in the house as the conditions suit it. Lucknow will have to take advantage of home matches as they have to play their next match at home against CSK, which is a tough team,” said Imran Tahir on Star Sports. Lucknow are in a little bit of trouble, having lost a temper-flaring encounter vs Royal Challengers Bangalore. They will be missing captain KL Rahul from their side in this game.

IPL 2023: Imran Tahir on LSG’s loss

Imran Tahir, a former cricketer from South Africa, has offered his thoughts on Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) second IPL 2023 low-score chase failure, this time against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 1 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. He asserts that the batting collapse is not solely the fault of the players. Image Source: Cricket Addictor Pursuing a disappointing objective of 127, LSG’s batting got going the tracks right from the primary over Steady wickets, combined with KL Rahul not having the option to bat because of injury up until the last wicket, brought about a 18-run misfortune for the hosts. While the quarrels after the match between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir certainly stand out, it should not be missed to remember that this is LSG’s subsequent low-scoring run pursuit this year that has finished in disappointment, as they lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) while pursuing 136 recently. “Everyone knew that KL Rahul was injured and that he wouldn’t bat. So their batters should have taken the responsibility and the coaches should have communicated with them and made a proper plan,” he said. The 44-year-old went on to say that coaches must also take some responsibility because LSG now routinely does this. ALSO READ: ALSO READ: “I feel the coaches should also take a little responsibility. IPL 2023: Imran Tahir lauds Virat Kohli's consistency in scoring runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s ace batter Virat Kohli underwent torrid seasons in IPL 2021 and 2022, scoring averages of 22.73 and 29 in the two seasons, respectively. His form in international cricket also took a massive dip at the time, as he went over two and a half years without scoring a century, having scored 70 of them before across formats. Kohli brought up his 71st century in September 2022 in the Asia Cup and sounded a warning to bowlers across the world that he was getting back into form. He went on to score four more in ODIs and Tests before the IPL and in RCB’s first game this season against five-time champions Mumbai Indians, he scored an unbeaten 82 off 40 deliveries to roar back into form. As of now, before RCB’s match against MI on May 9, Tuesday, he has scored 419 runs in 10 innings, at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 135.16, including six half-centuries. Ahead of the blockbuster reverse fixture at Wankhede, former South Africa cricketer Imran Tahir praised Kohli and said that his consistency is the result of sheer hard work and dedication. IPL 2022 – Struggled to score runs for his team. IPL 2023 – Constantly scoring runs while opening the batting for his team. A remarkable turnaround from Virat Kohli 👏🥳 — Wisden India (@WisdenIndia) Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Tahir said, “Virat Kohli has always had the urge to score runs. You can score maximum runs in one season, two or three seasons, but if you are successful in doing this for 15 co...

Now, an ex CSK player, who played under the leadership of Dhoni, has revealed why players that come to the franchise do well and, how the skipper is nurturing the talent of the youngsters in the CSK squad and bringing out the best in the team "CSK is going through a transition phase. MS Dhoni is preparing CSK for the future, he's nurturing young talents like Shivam Dube, Akash Singh, Tushar Deshpande, etc. for Indian cricket," Tahir said on Star Sports 'Cricket Live'.
