A taxpayer must link his Aadhar with Pan to file his income tax returns and the Aadhaar number must be mentioned during the process. The Central government has, for the third time, extended the deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar Card to September 30. The decision was taken in the wake of the disruptions caused by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. As per the provisions of the Income Tax Act, every person having a PAN Card as on 1 July 2017 is eligible to obtain Aadhaar and must link the two documents.
