Rahul collects the trophy, the team poses in delight. Kuldeep, Pant, Axar, Easawan all pose a little while later. A riveting game ends with India sneaking past Bangladesh to get a 2-0 series win. The game had many talking points, lots will be inspected in the content coming up here on ESPNcricinfo. Check it out. There are also the Boxing Day Tests between Australia and South Africa, and Pakistan and New Zealand starting tomorrow. The festive season is showering us with cricket and you can catch it all here. For now, it's goodbye from me, Ekanth, my report writing co-commentator, Vishal Dikshit, Hemant Brar who was here for the first three days, and our scorer, Thilak Rama. KL Rahul, India Captain You just trust the guys in the middle. There's always belief but there were nerves, we are human. But we trusted the batters out. Today, Ashwin and Shreyas did it with ease and style. Well done to them to earn India the win. We never thought it'd be a cakewalk, thought we need to grind and work hard for runs which Bangladesh did. It was tougher with the new ball. We lost more wickets than we'd have liked. We've made mistakes but will look to learn and hopefully put a better performance if a similar situation arises in the future. Happy with our bowling depth in the last 6-7 years. The series wins say a lot about how well we've groomed our pace attack. Ashwin and Axar have also done really well. Umesh put his hands up, Jaydev came in after a long time but bowled phenomenally well a...

Bangladesh’s strategic pivot to the Indo

Author: Rubiat Saimum, BSMR Maritime University In April 2023, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released its inaugural official document on the Indo-Pacific, detailing guiding principles and objectives to form the foundation of Dhaka’s regional policy. The publication represents a significant step forward in Dhaka’s efforts to articulate its vision for the Indo-Pacific and is indicative of its willingness to engage with the region’s major powers. While the contents of The outlook offers little clarity on how Bangladesh plans to navigate the complex and evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Indo-Pacific. Rather, the principles closely resemble Article 25 of Bangladesh’s constitution which states that its foreign policy should be guided by the principles of non-interference, peaceful coexistence, respect for international law and norms and cooperation. The document reaffirms Bangladesh’s constitutional commitment to advocate a peaceful international system based on the UN Charter. The document does not provide any reference to defence collaboration or military cooperation with any particular bloc. Instead, it encourages track-2 diplomatic processes to settle existing disputes by strengthening ‘mutual trust and respect, [forging] partnerships and cooperation, and [promoting] dialogue and understanding with the aim of ensuring peace, prosperity, security and stability for all in the Indo-Pacific’. The document emphasises on the notion of a While the core strategic and ...

A complete performance from India: runs for Pujara, Gill and Iyer; wickets for Kuldeep and Axar; and a 1-0 lead in the series. But they might be in the dilemma of who to leave out if regular captain Rohit Sharma is fit for the second Test: a spinner, or a batter? Anyway, we direct you to the live action KL Rahul, the winning captain: "We've been here for a while, and one-day series didn't go how we wanted it to. A hard-fought Test, and really happy we won. The pitch did flatten out - it did worry us - but in the first few innings, it was difficult to get runs. Important that the lower order contributes. Shubman and Puji utilised the opportunity, and got hundreds. Seamers got wickets in the first innings... we've always had a good bowling attack." Kuldeep Yadav is the Player of the Match for a match haul of 8 for 113, and a 40: "Happy with my performance, both with bat and ball. In the first innings, the wicket was quicker than in the first. I was bowling quicker in the second innings. Probably more revs on the ball makes batsmen step down, and plenty of variation as well. That makes it difficult for batsmen to pick which one is to come." A good cricket pitch in the end: slow turn to start off the first few days, before it eased out for batting, as Zakir and Shanto showed yesterday. But the ball kept turning and bouncing for Ashwin, Kuldeep and Axar, as India kept pushing Bangladesh back at regular intervals. Hang around with us for the presentations. 10.19am Bangladesh fou...

We've played enough cricket to realise that someone will put their hand up to win us the game. But I'm not going to lie, there was a lot of tension in the dressing room. It was a tough wicket to bat on, they put us under pressure in both innings. It was a new-ball surface to some extent, once ball got softer, it was easier to score runs. It was a matter of who plays the new ball better. We did lose a few more wickets than ideal (in the chase) but we got the job done. Will take the win. That (bowling attack) has been the case for the last many years now. Wherever we've gone overseas in recent years, we have done the job. KL Rahul...

Ravichandran Ashwin to Najmul Hossain Shanto, OUT! LBW! Najmul Hossain Shanto takes the risk of padding the ball away and ends up paying the ultimate price. Ashwin bowls this one on a length and looks to slide it in from around off. Shanto gets a big stride across and just pads it away. There is a huge appeal for lbw once again by Ravichandran Ashwin and this time he gets his man. Najmul Hossain Shanto does review it and as he offered no shot, the third umpire goes straight to Ball Tracking. Ball Tracking shows the wickets as umpire's call and all of a sudden Bangladesh have lost both their openers. Jaydev Unadkat to Zakir Hasan, OUT! CAUGHT! A maiden Test wicket for Jaydev Unadkat and Bangladesh lose their first! Unadkat just keeps on bowling it on a good length and around off. He extracts that extra bounce once again and Zakir Hasan is caught on the crease. Hasan looks to awkwardly fend it off the back foot but the ball takes the gloves and pops up around gully where KL Rahul takes a simple catch. Unadkat is absolutely elated and rightly so. Ravichandran Ashwin to Mominul Haque, OUT! TAKEN! Sharp catch from Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin sends Mominul Haque packing with a ripper of a delivery. This is flighted on a length and outside the off stump. Mominul leans forward looking for the cover drive but opts to leave it late. The ball just angles in and bounces a bit extra as well before just flicking the gloves. Pant takes a good catch and the finger is raised. Ashw...
