India is the 7th largest country in the world, spanning an area of 3.28 million square kilometers. The Indian border is the third-largest border after China and Russia. India shares its land borders with seven countries. China, Nepal, and Bhutan in the North, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in the northwest, Myanmar and Bangladesh in the east. It shares maritime boundary with seven countries as well. The country’s land border is 15,200 km. Let’s see them one by one. The Land Borders of India: India shares land borders with 7 countries which are as under: – 1. BANGLADESH:– It is the longest border that India shares with its neighboring countries. The total length of the border is 4096 km. The Indian states that share border with Bangladesh are Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, West Bengal, and Mizoram. 2. PAKISTAN: – India has a total length of approximately 3323 km international border with Pakistan. Indian states and Union territories – Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat share border with Pakistan. The international border between the two countries is termed as Radcliffe line. 3. BHUTAN:– India has an open border of 578 km with Bhutan. The north-south extent from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is about 3,200 km. And the east-west extent from Arunachal Pradesh to Kuchchh is about 2,900 km.
