(Photo by Pankaj Nangia/Getty Images) Photograph: Pankaj Nangia/Getty Images 22 Mar 2023 13.09 EDT That’s it from me. Pretty comfortable in the end from Australia but it was anything but during two partnerships from the Indians. The Aussies are now the top ranked ODI side in the world. Handy that there’s a 50-over World Cup on the horizon. And it’s in India, a place where they’ve just ended the host’s seven series unbeaten run stretching back to 2019. It’s all looking good for the Australians. Thanks for sticking with me. Report from Chennai below: 22 Mar 2023 13.05 EDT Finally, it’s the skipper, Steve Smith: It’s been an enjoyable tour. Check commentary and full scoreboard of the match. • NDTVSports • Updated: March 17, 2023 04:04 PM IST 29.4 overs (0 Run) DROPPED! Shubman Gill drops a sitter here and gives a life to Marcus Stoinis. Shami lands this on a hard length and around off, shaping away, Marcus Stoinis tries to play at it away from the body, but gets a thick outside edge towards first slip where Shubman Gill flies to his left, but fails to grab it. 29.3 overs (0 Run) OUT! TIMBER! Mohammad Shami strikes again as the off pole goes for a walk. This is a dream dismissal for a right-arm pacer and Cameron Green just stands there in disbelief. Shami serves this full and on off, nips away a shy bit, Cameron Green tries to block it out, but plays down the wrong line and gets beaten by the movement as the ball goes through to shatter the off pole. Australia six down now! Drinks! India will be the happier side at the moment as on such a good batting track they have managed to pick up 5 wickets inside 30 overs. Australia though are going at exactly 6 runs per over and have enough firepower to post a big total. They need Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell to form a partnership and allow themselves enough time to let loose. An exciting phase of play awaits. 27.5 overs (0 Run) OUT! DRAGGED ON! The much-awaited Cricket World Cup 2023 is all set to begin from October in India. Notably, the last ODI World Cup edition that was held in India was in 2011, and it is after a gap of 12 years that the event has returned to the subcontinent. A total of 10 teams will participate in the marquee event, of which eight are already confirmed, and two will be decided through the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifier in Zimbabwe. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has handed over a draft schedule for the upcoming 50-over World Cup to the International Cricket Council (ICC), which mentions that the first match will take place on October 5 between the Australia on October 8. It is worth mentioning that India are set to play nine league-stage matches across nine cities as per the tentative schedule. The hosts will face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. On the other hand, the Men in Green will play their group stage matches across five cities. Although the draft schedule doesn’t mention the venues for the semi-finals that are to be held on November 15 and 16, the summit clash will be held in Ahmedabad on November 19. The ICC has sent the draft schedule prepared by the Indian board to the other participating countries for feedback before they approve it or announce the final fixtures for the Cricket World Cup 2023.
