ABOUT The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) owes its origin to the foresight and initiative of two British Chemists, namely, Professor J. L. Simonsen and Professor P.S. MacMahon. It occurred to them that scientific research in India might be stimulated if an annual meeting of research workers somewhat on the lines of the British Association for the Advancement of Science could be arranged. From this modest beginning with hundred and five members and thirty five papers communicated for reading at the first session, ISCA has grown into a strong fraternity with more than Forty thousand members till to date.

Organized under the theme Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment, this five-day event witnessed the spirit of New India along with traditional activities. The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) is one of the most significant events for students who possess a scientific angle and this platform is open to aspirants from across the globe. The platform not only involves Indian students but welcomes students who are interested in Science from other countries as well. The 34th Annual Session of the Indian Science Congress was held in Delhi on January 3-8,1947 with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, as General President. Pandit Nehru's personal interest in the Science Congress continued ever since and there had been hardly any session that he did not attend. He has immensely enriched the activities of the Congress with his sustained interest in the development of the scientific atmosphere in the country, particularly among young generations. In fact, in 1947, the program for inviting representatives from foreign societies and academies was included in the Science Congress. This trend still continues with the support of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. • The 108th Indian Science Congress is scheduled to be held from January 3 to 7, 2023. • The technical sessions of the 108th Indian Science Congress have been categorised into 14 sections. • Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) came into existence with the initiative of two British Chemists. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and witnessed the entire inaugural session of the 108th Indian Science Congress through video conferencing today, January 3. The event is being hosted by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) at its Amravati Road Campus, Mumbai. While the Prime Minister was assisted by several top dignitaries, including the Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Maharashtra Public Universities, several Nobel Laureates, leading Indian and foreign researchers, experts, and technocrats from a wide variety of fields, including space, defence, IT, and medical research added more value to the event with their wisdom and knowledge.
