The iPhone 14 Plus is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a big-screen experience for a relatively affordable price. For $899, you get an immersive 6.7-inch display along with extra-long battery life, which will make this a more compelling option than the regular iPhone 14 for some buyers. While the cameras are stellar, the lack of optical zoom and a 120Hz display are bummers when compared to Android flagships at this price. For $899, the iPhone 14 Plus sports a large 6.7-inch display — the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max— for $200 less (check out our iPhone 14, a slightly upgraded A15 Bionic processor for better graphics and a slick new Action mode video along with very impressive battery life. So what do you give up? Quite a bit actually, including features that competing Android phones offer for around the same price, such as an always-on display, fast refresh rate and telephoto zoom. Apple has swerved back to the idea of Plus-sizing its phones with the iPhone 14 lineup. The Pro and Pro Max are still here, of course, but if you’re after the stock experience in a larger form factor, the iPhone 14 Plus is there for you to feast your eyes on. Under the hood, the experience is largely the same as the base model. However, with boosted battery life and a 6.7-inch display the end experience is considerably different - all for just $100 more than the base model. Apple hadn’t used the Plus name since 2017, but it resurrected it in 2022 with the iPhone 14 Plus. Just like before, the new model increases the screen size of the standard one, but keeps the majority of the other technical features in place. It fits in that awkward space between the cheaper iPhone 14 and the slightly more expensive, but superior Pro model. But is there any real reason to buy it? On the Tom's Guide Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over 5G at 150 nits of screen brightness, the iPhone 14 Plus lasted an excellent 11 hours and 57 minutes. That's enough to make our best phone battery life list. By comparison, the iPhone 14 lasted 9:28. So we're talking about a nearly 2.5 hours extra juice from the iPhone 14 Plus.
