The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction hogged the limelight on Friday (December 23). After much hullabaloo, the auction proceedings kicked off in Kochi, with the city hosting it for the first time ever, and saw some big names acquire whopping deals. England all-rounder and Test captain Ben Stokes went under the hammer in Kochi and was sold to the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK). By India Today Sports Desk: Former India cricketer and one of the most successful batters for IPL side Chennai Super Kings, Suresh Raina is among the players whose names will be auctioned off during the Lanka Premier League 2023 auction, which will take place on June 14. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released a list of international and domestic cricketers on Monday who will be auctioned off in the five-team tournament, which begins on July 31. Raina, 36, a solid striker at the top of the order, played every season of the IPL tournament from 2008 to 2021, with the exception of 2020, when he returned to India from the UAE, where the IPL was held due to Covid. Raina has appeared in 205 IPL games and has scored over 5500 runs, including an unbeaten century. The Indian cricketer represented CSK and Gujarat Lions in the IPL, as well as Uttar Pradesh in domestic tournaments.
