Apple iPad Pro vs. HP Spectre x360 14: Which should you get?

We added you to the list. We'll be in touch soon. Features Both the iPad Pro and the Spectre x360 14 are chock-full of features. Both devices have Face ID login, a fingerprint reader, and a front-facing camera. However, the iPad Pro has an additional rear-facing camera and better camera technology overall. While the HP Spectre’s webcam has a 5MP sensor, the iPad Pro has an f/1.8 12MP wide lens and f/2.4 10MP ultra-wide lens in the rear and an f/2.4 12MP ultra-wide camera in the front. Photos and video look sharp on the iPad Pro thanks to the fast, high-resolution sensor and lens. The iPad Pro’s rear camera also has a LiDAR sensor, which you can use to make 3D scans of objects, for instance. On the other hand, the Spectre x360 14 has more ports (two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-A port, and a headphone jack versus the iPad Pro’s single Thunderbolt 4 port). The Spectre x360 14 also has the ability to stand on its own since it’s a 2-in-1 with a built-in keyboard and trackpad. Living With the Spectre x360 13.5 (2022)

Convertible or 2-in-1 laptops aimed at the high-end consumer have become better and better, with The most obvious of these is the display. The unit I tested came with a simply gorgeous OLED touch display with 3,000 by 2,000 pixels. The resolution is great and the 3:2 screen ratio gives you more vertical screen real estate—it's only a 6% increase vertically but it's still appreciated. Other display options include a more standard 1920-by-1280 IPS touch display or a 1920-by-1280 IPS display with HP’s SureView Reflect privacy screen. It's a very solid laptop with an aluminum case, and a screen that folds over so you can use it as a traditional laptop, tablet, or propped up like a tent for presentations. The unit I had was a silver aluminum color, though there are also "Nightfall Black" and "Nocturne Blue" options. The unit itself measures 0.67 by 11.7 by 8.7 inches and weighs 2.97 pounds by itself and 3.63 pounds with the included 65-watt USB-C charger and pen. From my perspective, the Spectre x360 13.5 has the bare minimum of ports. There’s a headphone/mic jack on the back right corner, a single USB-A port that drops down a bit on the right side, two USB-C ports, on the left side, and another on the back left corner. Putting ports on the corners is actually pretty convenient, particularly on a convertible machine, though USB-C ports on both sides would be more convenient. I missed having a traditional HDMI port, though HP does ship the unit with a mini-dock with an HDMI and ...

HP Spectre x360 13 (2021) Review

I was picked to write the "20 Most Influential PCs" feature for PCMag's 40th Anniversary coverage because I remember them all—I started on a TRS-80 magazine in 1982 and served as editor of Computer Shopper when it was a 700-page monthly. I was later the editor in chief of Home Office Computing, a magazine that promoted using tech to work from home two decades before a pandemic made it standard practice. Even in semiretirement in Bradenton, Florida, I can't stop playing with toys and telling people what gear to buy. HP Spectre x360 13 (2019) Laptop Review: Best Consumer 2

If you’re looking for a lightweight consumer 2-in-1, it’s hard to argue against the HP Spectre x360 13-inch. Starting at $1,029 (£999), the latest version of this tried-and-true convertible features epic battery life, solid performance and a sleek new design with attractive tapered edges and an eye-popping Poseidon Blue color. While its base-level The rest of the laptop's appearance is unquestionably stunning with an all-aluminum design that comes in two color schemes: Ash Silver and Poseidon Blue. I tested an Ash Silver unit and noted that the word “silver” is a little misleading because the lid and deck are more of a dark brown metal with a shiny, copper-colored metal on the hinges and the sides. Either way, it looks fantastic. But the Poseidon Blue color is even more attractive with a dark subtle blue on the lid and deck to go with a white gold-colored metal around the sides and on the hinges. I’d definitely get the Blue. At 12.2 x 8.6 x 0.6 inches (309 x 218 x 15 mm) and just 2.8 pounds (1.3 kg), the Spectre x360 13-inch is really light and compact. It’s notably smaller and lighter than the Speaking of ports, the Spectre x360 13-inch doesn’t have many, but it does provide a USB Type-A port, something that all of its main competitors lack. In addition to the Type-A port, which lives on the left side, there’s a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Thunderbolt 3 port and a USB Type-C port for charging.
