What Kind of Job Fits Your IQ (By Jordan Peterson)

Many would agree that job search is one of the most challenging and frustrating things anyone will ever experience. Whether searching for a first job after college or looking to make a career change, the entire job search process can bring headaches for all of us. What more can this be if I am not sure which career I should pursue? I get it – everyone wants to land their job. However, even if it is your dream, it does not necessarily mean that you would fit it. As I struggle to find a meaningful work for me, I end up watching Jordan Peterson’s video “What Kind of Job Fits You?” In the video, Peterson discusses the different kinds of jobs and key personalities such as cognitive ability, conscientiousness, and stress tolerance. He also talks about strengths and weaknesses, IQ levels for various jobs, hierarchies of competence, correlation of temperament to job success, and leisure vs. work. According to Peterson, if you are going into a job and you are not smart enough for that job, you will have a miserable time. Plus, you will make life wretched for the people around you because you cannot handle the position; then, once you climb the hierarchies of competence, the demand for fluid intelligence increases unless you want to fail. What does an IQ of 108 mean?

The meaning of the IQ score can sometimes be confusing and difficult to understand. Often, you will find different explanations that do not really match up. So what you need is a team of expert psychologists that can give you an explanation based on science and do it in simple but precise terms. Here at BrainTesting, we are experts on IQ testing. Let's find out the meaning of the consulted IQ. The IQ score is the level of intelligence that you have been assigned according to the score that you achieved in the intelligence test. Or the level of the person for which you are consulting that IQ score for that matter. The IQ is always the result of a comparison with the average test result that was achieved by the people who participated during the test construction (also called test sample), or in other words, the persons that were used during the IQ test trials to find out the average score of the test (also called mean). On the basis that the average score of the test is always assigned a 100 IQ score, then if you were better than the average, so will your score be better than 100. The better you were in comparison, the higher the score. The worse, then the lower. Imagine that you do a 30-question test which has an average of 15 questions answered correctly, then obtaining 15 correct answers would secure you an IQ score of 100, while 16 correct answers would grant you an IQ over 100 and 14 under 100. The exact calculations can be a bit complex, but you can learn more For any...

How Much Does Education Really Boost Intelligence?

Understanding that result, however, requires some context. “This is a very sophisticated statistical analysis,” says psychologist First, the estimates of IQ improvement depend on the type of study. In their analysis—the first to quantitatively distill the data on this question—Ritchie, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh, and Tucker-Drob, an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin, examined three types of study designs, producing different estimates for each one. They included studies in which: • Cognitive tests were taken before participants differed in their degree of education (e.g., before some dropped out of high school) and again afterward, sometimes decades later. • A policy change, such as an increase in the mandatory education level, resulted in some students staying in school for longer. • Students who made an age cutoff to begin schooling were compared with students who had not. The results are “not really controversial within the field,” says Haier, who is editor of the journal Intelligence. (Ritchie and Tucker-Drob also serve on its editorial board). “It really just documents something that has kind of been suspected for years.” It’s not clear yet exactly how education might increase IQ scores, or whether effects of schooling build up with each passing year. (So don’t assume that earning a four-year degree is going to pump up your IQ score by 20 points.) Further, IQ and There is also the open question of how much a gain of one...
