Telangana govt extends holidays for schools, colleges till January 30

Hyderabad: The Earlier, the government had declared holidays for all educational institutions from January 8 to January 16. Now, the government has extended the holidays till January 30 in view of rising Covid-19 cases. Orders are expected to be issued shortly. Following this, all the institutions have decided to continue online classes. Among them is Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH) that instructed all colleges to hold online classes for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses. “All UG/PG courses (BTech, BPharm first and second years, MTech/MPharm, first and second years, MBA/MCA first and second year, PharmD first to five year, PharmD first and second years classes to be conducted in online mode,” read circular issued by Manzoor Hussain, JNTUH registrar to all the affiliated and constituent colleges.

Telangana School News: Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao declares holidays for institutes, no lockdown

HYDERABAD: With Covid-19 cases, especially Omicron cases, in the state witnessing a spike, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday declared holidays for all the educational institutions from January 8 to 16. The CM, however, ruled out imposing lockdown in the state. Allaying fears, he said: “There is no need to panic about Omicron cases. At the same time, there should not be any negligence.” Chairing a review meeting here, the CM said: “People should wear masks and maintain social distancing and strictly follow the Covid-19 guidelines being issued by the government.” The meeting was attended by ministers T Harish Rao, Vemula Prashant Reddy and A Indrakaran Reddy, chief secretary Somesh Kumar and senior officials. The CM held the review meeting in the wake of a sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in the stat though the situation was not alarming. He enquired about the situation both in Hyderabad and other parts of the state. The officials submitted a report to the CM on health infrastructure in the state. He asked officials to prohibit rallies, meetings and gatherings to prevent further spread of the virus. He asked the officials to further strengthen health infrastructure facilities in hospitals such as beds, oxygen beds, medicines and testing kits. Telangana schools, colleges to remain shut for next 3 days due to heavy rain

Telangana schools and colleges will remain closed for the next three days (July 11, 12, and 13) due to heavy rain, announced the state government over Twitter. State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao made the announcement and said that the schools and colleges will remain closed as a precautionary measure. The Telangana state government came to the decision after a review meeting was conducted. “As part of the preliminary measures, the CM said that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be holidays for three days for all the educational institutions. Today, a review meeting was held with high officials at Pragathi Bhavan under the chairmanship of CM Shri KCR,” stated the official tweet from the Chief Minister’s Office. IMD in Hyderabad has issued a flash flood warning till Monday morning for North Telangana with moderate to high risk in the districts such as Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Mulugu.
