JBL Tour One M2 Review

Introduction JBL makes a gazillion headphones and speakers each year. Just recently it announced it had sold 200 million headphones, making the company the numero uno brand in the overall headphone market. The JBL Tour One M2 are the company’s latest flagship over-ears, and in its own words, outperforms its previous headphones. Ticking the requisite boxes for a headphone in 2023, there is adaptive noise cancellation, personalized sound, spatial audio support and long battery life provided in a lightweight design. We’ve come across a few headphones that are jack of many trades but master of only a few. Could that same description apply to the Tour One M2? Design • Unremarkable looks • Lightweight and comfy design • Good controls There’s a definite lack of flash to the Tour One M2’s appearance, their only real indulgence to style are the glossy highlights on the earcups and headband. Otherwise, these headphones are here to do a job, which is to sit on your head without causing discomfort. And it’s mission accomplished, as they’re light on the head, causing very little bother. That’s unlike the previous JBL over-ears I tested in the Image Credit (Trusted Reviews) They’re comfortable in the right places, the padding on the underside of the headband and earcups is nice and supple, the earcups are spacious and the clamping force is nice and snug. I can’t find anything to complain about. I haven’t noticed wind noise to be a factor in disrupting the Controls are a mixture of physi...

The display on the charging case allows you to flick through multiple screens where you can manage your music and make adjustments to your earbuds, as well as receive calls, messages, and social media notifications without having to first grab your phone. It’s being advertised as a productivity feature, and that does appear to hold some weight if you don’t already own a smartwatch or if you don’t tend to keep your phone in an easily accessible pocket. The Tour Pro 2 earbuds themselves are Bluetooth 5.3 LTE compatible and come equipped with 10mm drivers, up from the 6.8mm that featured on the Tour Pro Plus. JBL says they’ll last up to 40 hours, with the earbuds themselves capable of running for around 10 hours before needing to charge in the case. This is an improvement on the claimed 32 hours total and six hours per usage claimed on the Tour Pro Plus when ANC is active, though Rtings places real-world usage closer to 4.2 hours usage and 16.8 hours total battery life. Aside from that, the Tour Pro 2 feature six built-in microphones like the Tour Pro Plus, which didn’t perform well according to this Tom’s Guide review. We can only hope that the Tour Pro 2 earbuds provide better battery life and microphone performance to avoid the same disappointments as its predecessor. JBL is also releasing the Tour One M2 over-ear wireless headphones, which the brand claims “combines JBL’s best-ever hybrid True Adaptive ANC with JBL Pro-tuned drivers.” This is a successor to the original J...

Review: JBL Tour One M2 are feature

JBL has recently released a new set of wireless, noise-cancelling headphones in Aotearoa that come packed with many features. The Tour One M2 offers 'true adaptive' ANC (active noise cancellation) that is customisable, a decent ambient mode, 30 hours of battery life with the ANC on, Bluetooth 5.3 and LE Audio compatibility. They've launched for around $370, which is less than what many comparable products with the same set of features launched at - so what are they lacking? I've been using a pair of JBL Tour One M2s and my overall thoughts are that this is an impressive package, given the price. It is a good sign that many of the features that were premium a few years ago are now standard, just like USB-C charging is. The headphones sound great and offer decent noise cancelling, yet it is in audio quality where you can hear the difference between these and the pricier brands - but only if you listen closely. And the features offered are really generous. The adaptive noise cancelling automatically adjusts to what's going on around you, with great, reactive voice recognition software. If you start talking, it'll pause your music and convert ANC to ambient mode, then swap back once you finish talking. You can also customise the ambient mode in the app, with seven different levels of control for how much outside noise you're letting in. I also like the fast charge feature, where if you're in a rush but low on battery, just 10 minutes plugged in will give you five hours of batt...
