JEE Main 2023: No Extra Attempt for JEE Mains Exam says Bombay High Court, Next Hearing on May 2

During the hearing, the Additional Solicitor General, ASG appearing for the government and National Testing Agency has stated there would be no third attempt for candidates as it would be difficult to conduct one. The main agenda of the hearing - the removal of the 75 percent eligibility criteria - will now be heard on May 2, 2023. The petition seeks for the removal of the 75 percent eligibility criteria for students. As per NTA guidelines, students must either secure 75 percent marks in their Class 12th Board Results or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective board. This rule has been challenged by many students, especially due to the fact that it was removed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has been reinstated once again.

NEW DELHI: For the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) 2023, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has relaxed the 75 percent eligibility criteria. According to an official notification, students who have scored 75% marks or are in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 of any education board will be eligible to seek admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and to appear for JEE Advanced 2023. Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates will require 65% marks. The decision comes after several students demanded relaxation of 75% eligibility criteria.
