JNU Admission 2022: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is currently accepting applications for its MA, MSc, and MCA courses for the academic year 2022-23. Candidates seeking admission to the PG programme in JNU should have appeared for the Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET PG) 2022 examination. While registering online for the MA, MSc, and MCA programmes of JNU candidates who belong to the General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Other Backward Caste (OBC) categories need to pay an application fee of Rs 250. The application fee for the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Disability (PwD) categories is Rs 100. While foreign nationals need to pay an application fee of Rs 2392. The JNU vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar confirmed the decision of the JNU Academic Council in a recent tweet adding that the NTA will conduct the exam. Talking to Education Times, Director of Admissions Jayant Tripathi highlights that the decision conforms with the university’s 157th AC meeting held in March 2020 when it was decided to adopt and admit students through CUET when NTA goes ahead with it. JNU has been conducting JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) since 2019 at different centres of the country to admit students in its various programmes of studies in collaboration with NTA in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Tripathi reasons there will not be much difference between CUET and JNUEE. Hence, students appearing for CUET will not be at sea. Drawing parallels with JEE and GATE, which he adds “are well proven systems for admission to various courses in the IITs, IISc, NITs etc,” Tripathi says CUET too will follow a similar track. “Earlier, students used to apply to universities within their neighbourhood and vicinity. But with the marks of CUET, even JNU and DU may be within their reach. The exam will give students the opportunity to dream big,” he adds.
