പത്തിരിപ്പാല ∙ സംസ്ഥാനപാതയില്‍ ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന കാര്‍ കത്തിനശിച്ചു. മങ്കര കല്ലൂര്‍ അരങ്ങാട് റസാഖിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലുള്ള കാര്‍ ഇന്നലെ വൈകിട്ട് 6.20ന് പഴയലക്കിടി ഒന്ന് വില്ലേജിനു സമീപത്താണു സംഭവം. മങ്കര കലൂരില്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പാലം ഭാഗത്തേക്കു പോകുകയായിരുന്ന നാലംഗ സംഘം സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്ന കാറാണു പൂര്‍ണമായി കത്തിയമര്‍ന്നത്. താടിയിൽ ബെൽറ്റ് മറഞ്ഞു; എഐ ക്യാമറയിൽ കുടുങ്ങി പുരോഹിതൻ കാറിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന കല്ലൂര്‍ സ്വദേശികളായ റസാഖ്, ഷമീം, റംസീന, റിസ്വാന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. കാറില്‍ നിന്നു പുകയും തീയും ഉയരുന്നതു കണ്ട നാട്ടുകാരാണു വാഹനത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നവരെ വിവരം അറിയിച്ചത്. തുടർന്ന് ഇവർ പുരത്തിറങ്ങി. നാട്ടുകാരും അഗ്നിരക്ഷാ സേനയും പൊലീസും ചേര്‍ന്നാണു തീ അണച്ചത്. സംസ്ഥാന പാതയില്‍ അര മണിക്കൂര്‍ നേരം ഗതാഗതം തടസ്സപ്പെട്ടു.

கேரளா மாநிலத்தில் சாலையில் ஓடிக் கொண்டிருந்த கார் திடீரென தீப்பற்றி எரிந்ததால் பயணிகள் அலறியடித்து ஓட்டம் பிடித்தனர். கேரள மாநிலம் கண்ணூர் பகுதியை சேர்ந்த சிலர் காரில் பயணித்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். அப்போது தலப்புழ எனும் பகுதி அருகே சென்று கொண்டிருந்த போது காரின் முன்பகுதி திடீரென பற்றி எரிந்தது. இதனைக்கண்ட கார் ஓட்டுநர் பதட்டத்துடன் காரை நிறுத்தி பயணிகளுடன் வெளியேறிவிட்டார். நொடிக்கூட தாமதிக்காமல் அந்த தீயானது மளமளவென கார் முழுவதும் பரவியது. இதனை கண்டு அச்சமடைந்த கார் ஓட்டுநர் அங்கு இருந்த டேங்கர் லாரியில் இருந்த தண்ணீரை ஊற்றி தீயை அணைக்க முயற்சித்துள்ளனர். மேலும் சம்பவ இடத்திற்கு சென்ற தீயணைப்புத்துறையினர் போராடியும் தீயை அணைக்க முடியவில்லை. ஒரு கட்டத்திற்கு மேல் கார் முழுவதையும் சாப்பிட்ட தீ அதுவாகவே வேகத்தை குறைத்து கொண்டு அணைந்தது.இதில் கார் முழுவதும் கருகி எலும்புக்கூடாக காட்சியளித்தது. இந்த சம்பவத்தில் பயணிகள் சுதாரித்து கொண்டதால் உயிர் சேதம் தவிர்க்கப்பட்டது. இது குறித்து வழக்குப்பதிவு செய்த போலீசார், தீ விபத்து குறித்து விசாரணை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர். கேரளாவில் கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்பு பிரசவத்திற்காக சென்ற கர்ப்பிணியின் கார் தீ பற்றி எரிந்ததில் அவர் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே குழந்தையுடன் கருகி பலியான சம்பவம் அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்திய நிலையில், மேலும் ஒரு கார் திடீரென தீ பற்றி எரிந்த சம்பவம் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. The deceased have been identified as Prajith (32) and his wife Reesha (26), both natives of Karam in Kuttiattoor. Victims Reesha was pregnant and was being rushed to the hospital after she developed labour pain. However, the tragic incident took place near the district hospital in Kannur city around 10:30 in the morning. Both the deceased were sitting in the front of the vehicle, while four of their relatives including a child were in the back when the accident took place. KOCHI: In back-to-back incidents, another car in Kochi caught fire while on its run on a busy road. The incident happened near Kuruppampady at 4;30 pm. Eldhose, who was driving alone saw smoke emanating from his Maruti Alto car which left him with no second thoughts but to jump out of the vehicle immediately. The fire force reached the spot to douse the fire but the car got charred completely by the time. After the drastic death of a couple in Kannur, another car fire incident happened yesterday in the capital city which saw the driver escaping death just by margins.

Four others travelling in the back seats survived the fire, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. While the people at the back rushed out of the car, Prajith failed to open the front door for himself and Reesha to escape. Stuck inside the car, the couple were engulfed by the flames. "Even though we suspect short circuit as the cause of fire, we have to conduct a detailed analysis for the exact findings. Our team is working on that. Visuals show how the first eye witness who saw the car engulfed in fire reacted when they saw the couple seated in the front seat. As per locals, the rescue team could not pull out the couple as the door couldn't be opened whereas all the four sitting at the back seat were rescued," City police commissioner Ajith Kumar said.

KOZHIKODE: In a gruesome incident, a fully pregnant woman being taken to hospital after developing labour pain and her husband were charred to death after their car caught fire near the district hospital in Kannur on Thursday morning. Four members of the family, including the couple's seven-year- old daughter, who were sitting in the back seat, managed to escape from the burning vehicle. Police identified the deceased as Prajith, 36, of Thamaravalappil House at Uruvachal near Kuttiyattur, and his wife K K Reesha, 26. The Maruti S-Presso car was driven by Prajith and Reesha was sitting next to him. The family was just 250 metres short of the district hospital when tragedy struck at 10.40am. Police said the couple got trapped in the vehicle because its front doors had got jammed. The couple's daughter Sreeparvathy, 7, Reesha's parents K K Vishwanathan and Shobha and her aunt, Sajina who were in the vehicle's back seat managed to escape with minor injuries. People at the spot were shocked to witness the gruesome sight of the couple getting burnt alive right before their eyes. "I was driving my two-wheeler behind the car and suddenly saw fire spreading in the vehicle.
