Khalsa College Amritsar: A heritage marvel : The Tribune India

It took seven years to build the historic Khalsa College in Amritsar, which is the oldest educational institute in the region. Tribune correspondent Neha Saini and photojournalist Vishal Kumar walk you through the heritage structure The 126-year-old Khalsa College was conferred the status of a heritage institute by the UGC in 2017. The bird-eye view of the building which is a combination of Mughal, Sikh & Victorian architecture. Several areas and spaces in the main building are reminisce of a bygone era with Italian marble pillars inspired by the Mughal architecture. The college library is rich in its collection with over 6,000 books, including new and old manuscripts. In addition, there are more than 115 artefacts depicting the rich Sikh history, including ancient weapons, pictures of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and a range of paintings at the college. The museum of Sikh history on the campus has several photographs about the history of its founding members and of the time when the college campus turned into a refugee camp during the Partition. The college imparts regular religious guidelines but there is no compulsion for non-Sikhs. Prayers are held at the college gurdwara in the morning and evening and resident members and students are motivated to attend prayers. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College course admissions will be based on the Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) and Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET). The CUET is for undergraduate admissions while the DUET will grant postgraduate admissions. The CUET UG Result 2022 was declared on September 16, 2022, by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Students can check the results at cuet.samarth.ac.in. Based on the results, SGTB Khalsa College will now prepare its merit list and counselling schedule. It is important that students register on the CSAS portal for the further undergraduate admission process. The CSAS 2022 portal was activated by DU on September 12, 2022, and the second phase of CSAS will be from September 26, 2022, to October 10, 2022. For PG admissions, the DUET 2022 will be held on October 17, 18, 19, 20, and, 21, 2022. Moreover, the classes for freshers of the first year will commence on November 1, 2022. Admission for UG programmes at SGTB Khalsa College is currently available for 2022. Candidates who took the CUET UG entrance exam can register online on the CSAS portal by going to the ugadmission.uod.ac.in official website. Also starting now is CSAS Phase 2. Candidates who have finished Phase 1 registration may now complete online forms specifying their preferences for programmes and colleges.
