Kolkata Municipal Corporation Election Results 2021 Updates: The counting of votes for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Election Results 2021 began on Tuesday. The elections were held on December 19 and a total voter turnout of a little over 63% was recorded. On Tuesday, the ruling TMC party gained control of the 144-member Kolkata Municipal Corporation, winning 132 seats. The Trinamool Congress gained control of the 144-member Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Tuesday, clinching nearly 72 per cent of votes. Mamata Banerjee's party won 132 seats and was all set to pocket two more to post a hat-trick of wins, decimating a frail challenge from the opposition BJP, the Left Front and the Congress, officials said. The BJP managed to win just three wards, a senior State Election Commission official said. The Congress and the CPI(M)-led Left Front bagged two wards each, and Independents three.
