A total of 17,000 police personnel, including 10,000 home guards, have been posted across the city and 400 pickets have been set up at various locations, while 58 PCR vans and 41 quick response teams have been deployed. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal said the deployment will be in place till Vijaya Dashami and also during immersion of idols, including the carnival day, when colourful processions that are taken out by selected community pujas pass through the Red Road in the heart of the city. "Full-fledged deployment has started from today, Chaturthi (fourth day) of the Durga Puja festivities, and this force will continuously be there till the end of the festival," Mr Goyal told reporters. He said additional resources will be put in place in case there is more crowding than expected at any particular area during the festive days. Kolkata Police is getting ready to unveil the Utsav App before Durga Puja 2022. The app will offer 360-degree virtual tours of 60 renowned pandals from across Kolkata with photos and videos. Also, enthusiastic pandal hoppers can get details of around 350 popular pujas from the app. The virtual tours will especially come to the aid of the elderly people who want a glimpse into the pandals while avoiding the overwhelming crowds. Enjoy 360-Degree Views Of 60 Pandals This Durga Puja Durga Puja 2022 will start on September 30 and will continue till October 5. The six days of the festival will be Panchami, Shashti, Saptami, Ashtami, Nabami and Dashami. As per reports, the app might also incorporate live feeds from the pandals. The app users will be able to search pandals on the app by using pandal name, pandal location, zone or complex, as revealed by the tender document. Additionally, details about nearby restaurants, medical shops, toilets, police assistance booths, hospitals, etc. can also be fetched from the app. The app will also comprise helpline numbers of the Traffic Control Room and Police Control Room.
