BENGALURU: The BJP’s stunning victory in KR Pete, Manyda district, a Vokkaliga bastion, is largely being attributed to the collective efforts of a team led by the party’s youth wing leader BY Vijayendra and deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan. However, the strategist on the ground, who worked out the micro details, was youngster Preetham J Gowda, the Hassan MLA. The odds were stacked against KC Narayanagowda, the BJP candidate, with former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy leading the JD(S) campaign and patriarch HD Deve Gowda appealing to voters to punish him for his defection.
