BAREILLY: The special investigation team in Bareilly has filed a chargesheet before the court of chief judicial magistrate against nine suspects, including two police constables for "facilitating meetings inside the district jail in February for slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad's brother Ashraf with his aides which eventually resulted in hatching the plot to murder Umesh Pal in Prayagraj", reports Kanwardeep Singh. Besides constables Manoj Gaud and Shiv Hari Awasthi, who are currently in jail, seven others named in the chargesheet are Dayaram alias Nanhe, Mohd Raza alias Lalla Gaddi, Rashid Ali, Furqan Nabi Khan, Farhad alias Guddu, Mohd Sarfudeen and Mohd Arif. Dayaram was the jail canteen supplier while others were part of "Ashraf's gang". The chargesheet has been framed under IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
