Measure the oral solution with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. Swallow the tablet whole. If you need a lower dose, your doctor may tell you to break the tablet in half. Dosing The dose of this medicine will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of this medicine. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so. The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine. • For hay fever: • For oral dosage form (Children's Xyzal® Allergy 24HR solution): • Adults and children 12 years of age and older—5 or 10 milliliters (mL) once a day taken in the evening. It is also used to help reduce itchy skin rash and hives. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Xyzal, Xyzal Allergy 24 Hour What should I tell my care team before I take this medication? They need to know if you have any of these conditions: •kidney disease •an unusual or allergic reaction to levocetirizine, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives •pregnant or trying to get pregnant •breast-feeding How should I use this medication? Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Take it at night. The tablet may be split in half. Do not chew the tablets. Follow the directions on the prescription label.
