Laxman temple is its own kind of only temple which is dedicated to lord Laxman. Temple is few steps from the heart of the city. It's the temple which is built by the king in the memory of his wife. It's a sign of love. Each brick is so designed that u can not find any joints in the temple. The actual original statue of the temple is in American museum. You can also go through the museum which is near by the temple. Lavish garden is also where children can play n enjoy. There is not one but three temples in the small village of Khallari, 25 km from district headquarters, mahasamund and 80 km from Raipur. Jagannath temple is an archeological site built in the 13th century by a cobbler named Devraj. Khallari Mata temple is atop a hill and one has to negotiate 840 high steps to reach the place. It is about 250 year old. In the foothills there is 200 year old another Khallari mata temple. There is greenery all around with some magnificent Banyan and Semal trees. One can also see some archeological ruins in nearby fields. I have been to this temple a number of times since 1996 and have prayed in front of the Shiva Linga every time without thinking too much about the origin and significance of this temple.
