CHITTORGARH: The vigilance department of Uttarakhand has filed an FIR against the chancellor of Mewar University , Chittorgarh, for admitting 250 ghost students from the hill state to claim scholarship amount from the local government. The police complaint was filed in Bhimtal Tehsil of Nainital on March 31. Bhimtal police says that the university administration had admitted total of 250 ghost students under the SC and ST scholarship programme in the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. Police says that the university administration had forged the documents in connivance with the consultants, bank officials and government officials to get them admitted and to claim the scholarship amount worth crores of rupees. Prima facie investigation report says that the ghost students do exist in real. The submitted forged documents have used their real names, addresses and even the marksheets of SCST students to show hem admitted in the university in Chit orgarh. SSP , Nainital, Swety Agarwal, while alking to TOI over phone, indicated that he case can unearth a major scandal. “Lo oking at the volume of ghost students in volved in the case, it appears that govern ment officials may also be involved in the case.“ Police is zeroing in on the students who were shown admitted to the universi y.
