All 175 MLAs cast votes in MLC election well before closing time in Andhra Pradesh

The election of seven members of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council under the MLA quota began at the Assembly committee hall on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. as per schedule and was over well before the closing time (4 p.m.). By 2.30 p.m., all 175 MLAs including Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, leader of Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu and seven dissident MLAs (two YSR Congress Party, four TDP and the lone MLA from Jana Sena Party) cast their votes. The voting by MLAs who switched loyalties set off intense speculation on the likely outcome of the poll. Seven YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidates are in the fray for as many vacancies while the TDP sprang a last minute surprise by fielding Vijayawada former mayor P. Anuradha as a candidate. The YSRCP candidates are Marri Rajasekhar, Penmatsa Suryanarayana Raju, Pothula Sunitha; Kola Guruvulu; Bommi Israel; Jayamangala Venkataramana and Ch. Yesuratnam. Bihar MLC Election Result Live: The counting of votes for 5 seats of Bihar Legislative Council is underway. The counting of votes is going on amid tight security. It is expected that the results will be out by evening. Gaya Graduate Constituency, Saran Graduate Constituency, Gaya Teachers Constituency, Kosi Teachers Constituency, and Saran Teachers Constituency are the five seats whose election results will be announced today. A total of 48 candidates are in the fray on the five seats. New Delhi: Counting on all the five seats in the Uttar Pradesh MLC election came to an end on Friday morning. Bharatiya Janata Party won four out of five seats, whereas an independent candidate won one. The Samajwadi Party faced defeat in all five seats. As far as BJP is concerned, it has won the Bareilly-Moradabad block graduate seat, Gorakhpur-Faizabad graduate seat, Kanpur-Unnao graduate block, and Jhansi-Allahabad teacher block seat in the elections. The independent candidate has won the Kanpur teacher's block seat. BJP's Dr. Jai Pal Singh Busy has won the graduate seat in the Bareilly-Moradabad segment. He defeated the SP candidate by a margin of 51,257 votes. Singh Busy has won the seat for the third time in a row. Apart from this, BJP's Devendra Pratap Singh has defeated SP candidate Karunakant Maurya in the Gorakhpur Faizabad's graduate block seat. He won by a margin of 17,562 votes. AMARAVATI: In a surprising trend, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) nominees surged ahead of YSRCP candidates in graduates’ constituencies MLC elections in Andhra Pradesh. TDP candidate Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao is leading by over 18,000 votes over his nearest rival and YSRCP-backed candidate Sithamaraju Sudhakar from north-coastal AP graduates constituency. Similarly, TDP candidate Kancharla Srikanth Chowdary was leading by over 10,000 votes against YSRCP candidate Syam Prasada Reddy in East Rayalaseema graduates constituency.
