Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Chief Minister, on Monday formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the allegations made by a group of Chandigarh University students. The probe panel will have three members, all women. Senior IPS officer Gurpreet Kaur Deo will lead the panel. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the panel will probe the alleged conspiracy and no person involved would be spared. What happened at Chandigarh University? A massive protest began on Saturday night on the campus. The protesting students claimed a female student made videos of other students while taking showers in the university's hostel. They claimed she made the video viral on social media. They also claimed that many students attempted suicide. The police, however, refuted the suicide claims. According to reports, the accused student sent obscene videos to her boyfriend, a resident of Shimla. The accused is a 23-year-old employee of a travel agency. Another man, a bakery worker, has also been arrested along with the accused woman. Police, meanwhile, said the woman had four videos on her mobile phone. All the videos were hers that she sent to her boyfriend. The students, however, rejected the police's claim that no videos were found on the phone. MMS Scandal: Following Chandigarh University, there have been reports of a student being made MMS at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay as well. It is claimed that a canteen worker at IIT Bombay made the MMS of a student present in the hostel’s washroom. The police arrested the accused canteen worker after learning about the case. According to media reports, the university student noticed a mobile phone outside the bathroom window. She immediately informed the hostel authorities. New Delhi: Chandigarh Police today arrested a woman student from Mohali for allegedly leaking objectionable videos of other students of a private university. Police have taken her electronic devices and mobile phones into their custody and it will be sent for forensic examination. Also, the police said a case has been registered against the accused girl under Sections 354 c of IPC and IT act at the Gharuan police post. The accused girl have been identified as a first-year MBA student. Meanwhile, now a video of the accused girl has gone viral on social media where she is being questioned about the incident by her warden and a group of girls. According to reports, the accused female student had sent the bathroom videos of her hostel mates to the boy in Shimla. By Manjeet Sehgal: The Punjab Police probing the Chandigarh University hostel video leak case, have recovered 12 clips of a woman student and identified one more accused in the case. The cops have already taken three accused -- the girl who made the videos, her rumoured boyfriend from Shimla and his friend -- into custody in connection with the case. All three have been sent to seven-day police custody. Now, police have identified one more person, identified as Mohit, who has links to the video leak case. On Tuesday, the cops recovered the WhatsApp conversation of the accused girl, according to which the student was speaking to one Mohit, who asked the girl to delete the photos and videos from her mobile device. On this, the accused girl replied that she had to delete a photo of a student taking a bath after she found out that she was being captured. Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the accused Sunny Mehta and his friend Rankaj Verma had allegedly threatened to make the woman student’s private videos viral unless she filmed and shared videos of hostel inmates in the common washroom. A total of three mobile phones, seized from Mehta and his friend, have been sent for forensic examination. The cops have also seized the laptop of the girl student.
