Dibrugarh: In a major achievement, the Dibrugarh Airport has won the Best Decorated Airport Award among category-III airports of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for its eye-catching decoration on the occasion of the country's 73rd Independence Day this year. On the other hand, Bihar’s Gaya airport won the second prize while Mysore and Bhopal airports jointly won the third prize in category-III segment. It is to be noted that Dibrugarh Airport is located at Mohanbari, 15 km east of Dibrugarh town achieved the top position for its exceptional aviation theme, along with its beautiful Rangoli Design and impressive lighting of the terminal building. Apart from that a small model of an 'Aircraft on the Runway' which was displayed at the airport to give an insight about the aviation world was one of the top attractions of the event.

STAFF CORRESPONDENT DIBRUGARH: 'Air Cargo Movement' from Inaugurating the 'Movement of Air Cargo' through the Terminal Building of Dibrugarh Airport, Ramjee Awasthi, Airport Director apprised the gathering at the airport premises that the airport authority here had been aiming to start movement of air cargo for the convenience of people and businesses and to support the development and growth of the region. He added that consequent upon the approval from the 'Bureau of Civil Aviation Security', the service has been started from the Passenger Terminal building till the time full-fledged 'Cargo Terminal' becomes ready for operation. "The cargo terminal is under development and is at various stages of permission at Dibrugarh Airport," pointed out Awasthi. He further stated that cargo shipments, from now on wards, can be sent almost anywhere from Dibrugarh Airport with fast shipping and reliable delivery time. Air Cargo, being a trade facilitator, will contribute to the economic growth of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and other adjoining regions by carrying important shipments such as Tea, Fresh Fish/Flowers/Fruits and other local high-value and perishable goods all over the country and further to the other parts of the world.
