Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum (Bhopal)

Right next door to the poorly cared for state museum, this is a must see for all visitors to Bhopal. Walk through the impressive entrance and prepared to be wowed. So much work and effort has gone into presenting the individual characteristics of tribes indigenous to the state. Recreations of village home life, beautiful representations of creation and other stories- truly wonderful. A little more lighting in some areas would have allowed closer examination of some exhibits. However, the explanations in Hindi and English were excellent. A huge space that flows well and easily accommodates a large number of people. And the food they serve in their comfortable eating area complements the village feel. This is the kind of museum you can easily revisit. This is a beautiful place, well kept and maintained by management. This covers tribal history and lifestyle if tribes across India. This I can say is one stop shop for learning about tribal lifestyle. It is huge property with secotion made out, you have tribal huts made inbetween and some small and one main museum. Pl give at least half day if you want to see it fully. Place closed at 5.30 pm. An unexpected diamond! A museum that deserves to win prices. Well maintained and beautiful display of homes of different tribes in the State, artifacts, stories told in creative ways. They have used the available space (very high ceilings) very well. I could have walked around, entering houses, climbing the different structures, for hours...
