Draupadi Murmu Biography Draupadi Murmu is the 15th and current President of India. She is also the former cabinet minister of Odisha and the former governor of Jharkhand. She was born into a humble family based in a remote village of Mayurbhanj, a tribal district of Odisha, Murmu had worked as an assistant teacher and a junior assistant in Odisha state irrigation department. Mrs. Murmu started her political journey with the BJP way back in 1997, worked as a councilor in Rairangpur. She has also worked as the president of Scheduled Tribe Morcha of the BJP Odisha unit, before being elected twice to Odisha state legislative assembly on BJP ticket and also served as a cabinet minister during 2002-2004 in Naveen Patnaik led BJD-BJP coalition government where she was felicitated with the best legislative member award. Though her personal life remained full of struggle and tragedy, Murmu touched the pinnacle in the public life and achieved monumental records in politics and social services. She lost her husband and two grown up sons, but she stood strong on all occasions. Mrs. Murmu created history as she became the first women governor of Jharkhand, the first tribal governor of a tribal state, the first Odisha-born woman to be a governor. President Droupadi Murmu to review Combined Graduation Parade at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad on Jun 17

President Droupadi Murmu will review the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) at the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Hyderabad on June 17, officials said. The CGP of the 211th course with full military splendour will be held at the AFA, Dundigal to mark the successful completion of the demanding and challenging pre-commissioning training of the flight cadets of various branches of the Indian Air Force (IAF), the defence ministry said in a statement. The president would be the chief guest on the occasion and the reviewing officer (RO) of the CGP, it added. Also Read | During the parade, which will mark the successful completion of training, ranks on the shoulders of the flight cadets are unveiled, representing the award of the President's Commission, the statement said. The RO also pins the "Wings" and "Brevets" on the chest of the cadets, depending on the branch they are being commissioned into. The ceremony includes the presentation of "Wings" and "Brevets" to officers of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and cadets from friendly foreign countries who have been trained by the IAF, the statement said. The flight cadet of the flying branch standing first in the order of merit will be given the privilege of commanding the parade and awarded the "Sword of Honour" and the President's Plaque in recognition of his or her performance. Belgrade [Serbia], June 9 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu on Friday successfully concluded her two-nation visits to Suriname and Serbia, the Ministry of External Affairs informed in a statement. President Murmu visited Suriname and Serbia from June 4 to 9. This was her maiden visit to Suriname, at the invitation of Suriname President Chandrikapersad Santokhi, and also her first state visit since assuming office in July 2022. Murmu also received an invitation from Serbian President Aleksander Vucic to visit his country. “President Droupadi Murmu @rashtrapatibhvn successfully concludes her visit to Suriname & Serbia.
