NED vs PAK

The Pakistan players began with absolute fire and Babar Azam started with the combination of the experienced Haris Rauf and the young debutant Naseem Shah. Both picked up one wicket each in the Powerplay and could probably have got a few more had their fielders held on to the catches. Pakistan were really poor on the field and that prevented them from being clinical and wrapping this game up early. Mohammad Nawaz controlled the middle overs of the game and was economical, picking the only wicket taken by a spinner in the whole game. Haris Rauf picked up three wickets but was a touch expensive and Naseem Shah bowled wonderfully to take three wickets. The biggest issue was the number of extras they conceded with 29 bonus runs added to the Dutch total. They eventually managed to close the game out but will know there is room for improvement in all three departments of the game. The arrival of the Dutch skipper Scott Edwards, who has had a wonderful summer, kept the hosts on track. He translated his good form to bring up his fourth consecutive ODI fifty. Scott was ably supported by Teja Nidamanuru and Logan van Beek to keep the Netherlands in the hunt. Although the target seemed out of reach, they did well to play out the 50 overs and pushed Pakistan to the limit. In pursuit of a big target, the Dutch team began tentatively but kept accumulating runs at a steady rate albeit in a streaky manner. Max O'Dowd and Wesley Barresi departed early to leave the Netherlands with quite an...

Pakistan vs Netherlands T20 World Cup HIGHLIGHTS: PAK defeat NED by 6 wickets

Shadab Khan was adjudged Player of the match for his performance. "I just tried to bowl it at the stumps, that was my plan, just to keep it simple. I have bowled against few of their players in county cricket, so I know how they play. All our bowlers bowled well. The fast bowlers put pressure in the powerplay, and I took wickets because of that pressure built. We didn't finish the game well in the last couple of matches, but we managed to do it today," he said after the match Pakistan vs Netherlands Ohhh! That's a big wicket. Babar Azam has to walk back, courtesy a brilliant direct hit at the non-striker's end by van der Merwe. Netherlands vs Pakistan 2nd ODI: NED vs PAK head

After some nail-biting moments, Pakistan managed to eke out a 16-run victory over Netherlands in the first One Day International. The Babar Azam-led side would be hoping to win their second outing convincingly and take an unassailable lead when the two teams face off at Rotterdam on 18 August. In the first of the three ODIs, the visitors were powered by a 168-run partnership between Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam. Zaman scored 109, while Azam chipped in with a crucial 74 to power Pakistan to 314. Netherlands then started the chase with some early fumbles, but stabilized later on. However, they were unable to stand up against the pace attack of Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim. For Netherlands, Scott Edwards was the top scorer with 71 runs to his credit. Tom Cooper and Vikramjit Singh also slammed half-centuries. Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede scalped 2 wickets each. For Pakistan, their bowlers did their job well. Their top-notch pace attack, led by debutant Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf made sure that the hosts could not get past the finish line. Both Rauf and Shah scalped 3 wickets each. Naseem Shah gave away just 52 runs in 10 overs and made sure that onlookers would sit up and take notice of his performance. Pakistan look to be in a strong position ahead of the second ODI and they would want to maintain their winning momentum against Netherlands.
