Today I learned about this valiant and courageous revolutionary. She was Neera Arya, the first female spy in India. And I wanted to talk about her because she is so overlooked. Neera Arya was a revolutionary who worked as a spy for the Indian National Army (INA) during World War II. She is believed to be the first female spy to work for the INA under the leadership of Subhash Chandra Bose. Neera Arya was born in the year 1922 in Haryana, India. During her teenage years, she joined the Indian National Congress and participated in the Quit India Movement in 1942. In 1943, Neera Arya was recruited by Subhash Chandra Bose to work for the INA. She was trained in espionage and radio communication in Japan and was sent to Burma (now Myanmar) as a spy. During her time in Burma, she transmitted critical military information to the INA headquarters in Rangoon (now Yangon) using her radio transmitter. When her husband Srikant Jai Ranjan Das who was loyal to the British, learnt of her association with Netaji he tried to follow her and assassinate Netaji. Neera swooped in and saved Netaji by killing her husband. She was arrested for this and severely tortured. The British mercilessly tortured her and lured her to divulge information. But Neera's patriotism never wavered and no amount of torture could make her open up. Neera Arya's espionage work was vital to the INA's operations in Burma , and her sacrifice was recognized by Subhash Chandra Bose himself.

Tyagi has also acquired the right of the book for its cinematic adaptation. Further, writer Armaan Singh Dhillon has been roped in to work on the screenplay for the film. The complete, in-depth research on the subject has been done by Dhillon Sahab. He's a young talent and is contributing majorly to the script." On why he zeroed-in the particular book to serve as base for the film, Vishal justifies by saying that not everything is available on Internet and social media. "This book contains a lot of information which you do not find in any history books. Some facets are controversial and not many are aware of these. This is why we decided to base our story on this book," he revealed. When asked about his plans as to who would helm the project, Vishal said he has approached several well-known directors, given them a copy of the book to read and now awaiting response. "Let's see how things shape up ahead," he added. The motion poster of the film was launched in Delhi, by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s great-granddaughter Sri Rajshree Bose. This film will be made under the banner of R2 Patriotic Films LLP & Roopa Iyer Film Factory (RIFF) and is said to be a historical fiction & Drama based on some real incidents.
