R Venkataramani joined the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu as a lawyer in July 1977. Practising in the Supreme Court since 1979, Venkataramani was nominated as a senior advocate by the top court in 1997. NEW DELHI: The Central government on Wednesday appointed senior advocate R Venkataramani as the new Attorney General of India for a period of three years. This comes days after senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi declined Centre's offer to return as the attorney general. Rohatgi said that there was no specific reason behind his decision.
