Sony Adds Two New Marvel Movies To 2023 Schedule

Sony's list of Spider-Man adjacent projects has been a little confusing as of late. There's plenty in the works, from the • Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe (Columbia Pictures) – June 23, 2023 • Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe (Columbia Pictures) – October 6, 2023 Obviously, with no titles to work with it's difficult to guess exactly what these projects are referring to. There has been plenty announced on Sony's docket. There's a Madame Web project with Jessica Jones alum S.J. Clarkson attached, Spider-Verse spin-off centered around female characters, a Black Cat project, a Silver Sable project, a Silk project--the list goes on, and any one of them could be slated for these spots. As it stands right now, Morbius is set for January 28 2022, Spider-Verse 2 is set for October 7 2022, and Kraven is still scheduled for January 13 2023. Meanwhile, on the Disney side of things, Spider-Man: No Way Home is in for a December 17, 2021 premiere. There's also the possibility that these Sony dates will go to as-of-yet unannounced projects.

Every New Marvel Movie and Series Coming in 2023

Some 15 years now since the sea change moment of 2008’s Iron Man and the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the MCU is still an entertainment and marketing machine of incredible complexity and box office value. With the full might of the Disney juggernaut behind it, the MCU continues to dominate the box office on a yearly basis, while also becoming the premiere content that anchored Disney+ throughout 2022 with the launch of series such as Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Moon Knight. But that’s old news, now: What about 2023? What films can we expect to see make their way to multiplexes throughout this year, hopefully in a post-pandemic era? What new series, miniseries and TV specials, meanwhile, will we be able to enjoy on the small screen from the comfort of our own homes? The Disney/Marvel machine is of course very busy, with dozens and dozens of projects at some stage of development, but here we’re focusing specifically on every project that is expected to release before the end of this calendar year, 2023. Here’s a brief synopsis of each project headed our way in the next 12 months or so. Feature Films The MCU feature film slate for 2023 is a little on the uneven side—three films are scheduled for release by the end of July, but there are no features coming up from August onward—not until Captain America: New World Order in May of 2024. That’s a pretty decently sized gap for the MCU, so one has to wonder if there’s something else in the mix we don’t yet know about. Rega...

Marvel Phase 5 Release Schedule: Every MCU Movie And TV Show Releasing In 2023 And Beyond

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Credit: Marvel / Disney It’s a brand new year and the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to kick-off. Phase 4 drew to a close with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and a couple TV specials including the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special (which was a pleasant surprise). Phase 5 begins next month and includes a bunch of new movies and Disney Plus streaming shows beginning with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and ending with Thunderbolts in 2024. (I spoke with David Harbour recently who says Blade pushed back to September, 2024 it’s looking like that will be the actual final Phase 5 MCU film. The MCU’s Phase 4 was met with mixed reviews from fans and critics. It seemed less focused than previous Phases, and included many lesser-known heroes in the post-Avengers era—an inevitability given the absence of Captain America and Iron Man. At the same time, it had some of the most creative entries in the entire MCU. WandaVision remains one of my favorite Marvel projects of all-time, and Spider-Man: No Way Home was terrific. The last time we had an Ant-Man movie was back in 2018—that’s five years ago! We did see Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man in a few other MCU films since then, including Avengers: Endgame, but this will be our first return to the story of Ant-Man and the Wasp. I’m not looking forward to typing out the word quantumania over and over again, but I am looking forward to a return to one of the MCU’s most endearing sort-of-heroes. Wha...

Sony Announces Two New Marvel Movies for 2023

Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters is just getting started. The Sony-owned franchise — which now officially happens to be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — just added two new dates in 2023. Instead of just Kraven the Hunter debuting in January 2023, the studio has also added release dates for unannounced projects on June 23, 2023 and October 6, 2023. It's unclear when the studio intends to reveal what movies will fill those dates. Spider-Man: No Way Home. Keeping with the same release schedule, one might think that could be the fourth Spidey flick set in the MCU. That October date would then follow the same pattern with Venom. Whatever the case, Let There Be Carnage was responsible for introducing its eponymous character to the MCU,

Every Marvel Movie and TV Show Coming in 2023

This article contains MCU spoilers It’s a new year and a new phase for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and we look at what comes next. Phase 4 of the MCU had the honor of uniting the worlds of TV and movies, with Disney+ helping bring the likes of WandaVision, Loki, and What If…? To the Multiverse Saga. Despite critics calling out franchise fatigue, there’s no rest for wicked (we’re looking at you, Agatha Harkness), thanks to a packed slate adding even more movies and shows to an already bulging roster. Beyond Disney’s projects, let’s not forget that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is also poised for a bumper year. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur – February 10 Despite an imminent release date, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is one that’s flying under the radar. Giving the MCU another dynamic duo, this animated kids’ series follows the genius Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl, who accidentally brings a T-Rex to modern-day New York via a time vortex. Starring Diamond White as Moon Girl and Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur, the series also has the privilege of introducing the Beyonder- played here by the legendary Laurence Fishburne. Fishburne is also the creator and Executive Producer, but one of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’s big pulls is its jaw-dropping guest cast. This includes Alison Brie, Maya Hawke...

Deadpool 3, Avengers & More Major Marvel Release Date Changes Announced By Disney

First, there has been a concerted effort at Disney under the returned leadership of Bob Iger to reshuffle the balance of production costs across various years. As you can see, the new schedule for Marvel movies clearly does that, The three-films-a-year pace will slow after 2024, albeit with room for new announcements to be made. Secondly, there is the ongoing Writers Guild of America Strike. The strike has caused all Hollywood productions to either bend or brake, entirely; at this point, every studio is having to at least consider a new timetable for TV and movie projects they've already announced. Disney included. Finally, there have been a number of discussions within the fandom and larger entertainment industry about how Marvel Studios, in particular, has been having some struggles with its brand as of late. Outside of the Spider-Man event film No Way Home, MCU movies have struggled to reach that $1 billion mark. 2023 hasn't been any more encouraging, as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn't even make half a billion worldwide, while even the highly-anticipated and well-regarded Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still trying to hit the billion-dollar mark ($800+ million and counting). That's all to say: it may be a big silver lining that these release date changes are happening. While it seems Deadpool 3 is far enough along to finish (especially if it's the major focus of studio resources), other films can now get more time for the technical polish that has been sorel...
